The Board of Trustees Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Siry, Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith; Trustee Michael
O’Neill, Trustee Roger Smith, Trustee Owen Brooks, Jr.

Mayor Siry welcomed everyone to the Board of Trustees Meeting and invited Chief Burton to lead the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Siry asked Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith for upcoming events, which are as follows: Façade
Improvement program is accepting applications and a community meeting will be held on Jan. 10th at 6
p.m. at the main firehouse; Rotary Club will dedicate a Peace Pole at 9/11 Memorial Park on Jan. 18th at 2
p.m.; Kiwanis hosts Mayor’s Social on March 3rd at Unqua Corinthian Yacht Club; Bay Village Civic
Association Brunch is on Feb. 4th at noon; and the Amityville Fire Police Trivia Night fundraiser is on
Feb. 3rd at the Firehouse.
Mayor Siry called for Trustees to present Committee November/December reports.
Justice Court – report November (Trustee Smith)
Department of Public Works –November/December 2023 (Trustee O’Neill)
> Hauled and disposed of 38.70 tons Municipal waste, 45.33 tons yard waste,80 cubic yards of shredded
leaves to be composted at no charge to the Village.
> Completed week 3,4,5 of the annual leaf pickup program
> Refurbishing a trash receptacle which went on fire 11/15/2023

> Numerous potholes filled various locations through the village
> Removed the tree in front of 180 Park Ave., ground the stump cut and placed a steel plate with the
memorial plaque attached - only thing left is the planter box
> Park and Village-owned properties continue to be cleaned up
> Made a temporary plywood door for 18 Ocean Ave for easier access to the building; also broom-
cleaned the rooms
> Repaired the #8-gauge electric wire for the lighting for the triangle area and the street lighting around
Greene Ave.
> Set up and cleaned up for the Village’s annual holiday tree lighting production
> Assisted the glazier in installing new glass for the 9/11, dispatch desk area rubber spacers were added to
the bottom of the glass and foam added to the top and the sides to allow for expansion and contraction of
the glass
> Picked up the light towers from the beach and arranged to have the portable lavatories picked up before
the next billing cycle
> Met with a representative from “GovDeals” to possibly auction off the surplus 1995 garbage truck.
>Assisted the HVAC technicians installing a 12-year-old AC unit on the roof of the sally port which cools
the server room as the equipment generates heat
> Sweeper continues to sweep with the assistance of a driver and truck to clear drains and roadway of
falling leaves
> Assisted the Amityville Police Department in traffic control for the annual road race
> Replaced the batteries in the emergency generator for 21 Ireland Place.
