Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes October 28, 2024 The Board of Trustees Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith; Trustee Michael O’Neill, Trustee Roger Smith, Trustee Owen Brooks, Jr. MEMBERS ABSENT: Mayor Dennis Siry, Village Attorney Bruce Kennedy ALSO PRESENT: APD Chief Bryan Burton Building Inspector Michael Breitweg DPW Superintendent Bruce Hopper Clerk/Treasurer Catherine Murdock Mayor’s Assistant Wendy O’Neill Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith welcomed everyone to the Board of Trustees Meeting, noting that Mayor Siry was unable to attend the meeting due to circumstances beyond his control. He invited Chief Burton to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. He then called for a moment of silence for Jeanne Fieldsa, longtime member of the AFD Women’s Auxiliary, upon on her passing. The Deputy Mayor shared the following upcoming events: Kiwanis Field of Honor is underway to remember veterans (see a Kiwanian to sponsor a flag or for information); AFD Ladies Auxiliary will hold a painting night on Nov. 8th; the PBA Holiday Boat Parade fundraiser is on Nov. 8th; and the Kiwanis Club will be selling holiday wreaths (tentative date of Dec. 7th). Deputy Mayor Smith then called for the reading of the latest Committee Reports. Department of Public Works –September/October 2024 (Trustee O’Neill) >Hauled and disposed of 6.93 tons municipal waste, 18.82 tons C&D, 1.60 tons yard waste, 10 cubic yards chips. >Set up barricades for the Suffolk County Sheriff Department for an eviction at #7 Albany Ave.; created cleanup bill for removal of debris and submitted to the Village Clerk. Also was notified of an eviction at 366 Broadway AvalonBay Communities and spoke to property manager for debris to be removed. >Cleaned the apparatus room floor at the fire house in preparation for Amityville Fire Department hosting the TOB fireman’s parade including perimeter fencing at the main house, placement of no parking signs the entire length of the parade route, barricades traffic control, sound system, light towers, propane, trash receptacles, plastic bags, collected and disposed of party garbage. >Assisted the HVAC contractor to swap out the heat exchanger at 21 Ireland Place (municipal Building). >The department continues to groom and line the ballfield and trash removal also working on base peg and base replacement. >Continue to clean up and store Beach equipment, removed the seaweed fence, and as soon as the kitchen is secured, we will clean the grease trap. >Continue to remove graffiti and stickers from traffic control boxes and signs, lamp posts. >Landscaping leaves cleanup of all Village-owned properties, continue to mow the grass areas.
