MINUTES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION September 13, 2018 PUBLIC HEARING / MEETING 2018, for a single-family dwelling intended for human 4:30 p.m. habitation. Conference Room #1 120 East 8th Street Mr. Stephenson moved to approve Resolution Anderson, IN 46016 EDC16-18 for Karen and Thomas Shepherd, 2902 MEMBERS PRESENT Betula Street. Mr. Reed seconded. Motion passed Bill Nagengast, President unanimously; 5 yes, 0 no. Lance Stephenson, Vice President Mary Jamerson, Secretary/Treasurer ADJOURNMENT Roger Reed Mr. Nagengast adjourned the meeting at 4:40 p.m. Lisa Hobbs STAFF PRESENT Tim Lanane, City Attorney Karen Soetenga, ED Staff OTHERS PRESENT Brent Shepherd, Contractor Karen Shepherd, Abatement Applicant Thomas Shepherd, Abatement Applicant ROLL CALL AND DECLARATION OF QUORUM Mr. Nagengast called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. and declared a quorum with five (5) members in attendance. MINUTES Mr. Nagengast called for the minutes of August 9, 2018 to be approved. Mr. Stephenson made a motion to approve August 9, 2018 minutes and Ms. Hobbs seconded. This motion passed unanimously; 5 yes, 0 no. NEW BUSINESS Resolution EDC 16-18 A Resolution Recommending Residential Tax Abatement for Karen and Thomas Shepherd, 2902 Betula St. Mr. Lanane, City Attorney, stated Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd were present and the administration supports the resolution. Ms. Soetenga briefed Commission Members on Resolution EDC16-18 residential tax abatement for Karen and Thomas Shepherd, 2902 Betula St. Mr. Winkler stated the address is Lot 88 in the Evergreen Valley Addition, off Martin Luther King Boulevard near 53rd Street. Improvements to the property will be at an estimated cost of $120,000. The Shepherds were introduced and briefed members on construction. Brief discussion followed. The request is for a six-year tax abatement, as it is considered in-fill housing. Construction will commence before December 31,
