Village of Angel Fire PO Box 610 Angel Fire, NM 87710 575-377-3232 Pedestrian Trails Committee Meeting Minutes Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 3:30pm at Village Hall I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Brian Smith at 3:32pm. II. Pledge of Allegiance The committee recited the Pledge of Allegiance. III. Roll Call Present at the meeting were Carolyn Smith, Katrina White, Diane Mereness, Robin May, Charles Earhart, Brian Smith and Tracy Orr as staff support. IV. Approve June 22, 2016 Agenda A motion was made by Brian Smith to approve the agenda with the following change: Add “Sage Trail and Girl Scout Camp access to Forest Service land”. The motion was seconded by Katrina White and passed unanimously. V. Approve May 11, 2016 Meeting Minutes Diane Mereness made a motion to approve the meeting minutes as written. The motion was seconded by Carolyn Smith and passed unanimously. VI. Old Business A. Sage Trail-Finding Access to Forest Land Brian Smith reported that one of the AAFPO greenbelts runs along-side the Girl Scout camp. He stated that Carl Nelson said the land was plotted wrong initially but has since been straightened out. The north end of Via del Rey is a common use easement. B. Enchanted Circle Trail proposal and assessment Brian Smith reported that all 25 trails in the Angel Fire area have been assessed and the information placed on the Trust for Public Land website. The Smiths conducted most of the trail assessments with the help of the Masons. VII. New Business A. Disc Golf donation-where to put it The Committee agreed there were two options regarding the location of the Disc Golf course. The first is on the AAFPO greenbelt following along Bobcat Trail. The second is at Allen Fields. Brian Smith agreed to discuss the use of the greenbelt for the disc golf course to the AAFPO board and get back to the Committee regarding the results. Brent Dunn said he would be willing to speak to AAFPO about the course. VIII. Reports & Updates A. Sendero North B. Sendero South C. Bobcat D. Sage Lane E. Lady Slipper F. Trailhead Parking G. AAFPO H. Kiosks IX. Other Business Brian Smith discussed how we could access the Forest Service land from the greenbelt through the Woop-de-doo trail. We would need a parking area at the end of Armijo Drive, preferably on the Girl Scout land. We would then build a switchback trail to the Forest Service property. The area would need to be fenced to protect the Girl Scout property. Michael Dean said he discussed with the Village an option to do this in exchange for water lines. Tracy Orr said she would investigate this with the supervisor of the water department. X. Requests and Responses from the Audience-None XI. Next meeting and Adjournment The next meeting will be held Wednesday, July 20th at 3:30pm at Village Hall. With no further business, Charles Earhart made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
