Huron St. Ann Arbor, MI 48104 http://a2gov.legistar.com/ Meeting Minutes Calendar.aspx Public Market Advisory Commission Thursday, July 18, 2019 5:30 PM Larcom City Hall, 301 E Huron St, Second floor, City Council Chambers A CALL TO ORDER Commissioner Cacciari called the meeting to order at 5:35 pm B ROLL CALL Present: 4- Alexandra Cacciari, Holly Parker, Lisa Young, and Jeff Nemeth Absent: 1- Peter Woolf C APPROVAL OF AGENDA Approved as presented D FIRST PUBLIC COMMENTARY (AGENDA ITEMS ONLY) - (3 Minutes per Speaker) Ann Sheppard, artisan vendor, requested that assignment of extra artisan stalls happen before daily vendor assignment during this year's annual stall assignment process Christine Schopieray, artisan vendor, commented that artisans feel discriminated agains and neglected during the moveup process. It's an impediment not to be assigned a permanent booth. We should move forward with this decision before next year. E APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS May 16, 2019 PMAC Meeting Minutes Approved by the Commission and forwarded to the City Council due back on 8/19/2019 F PRESENTATIONS City of Ann Arbor Page 1 Public Market Advisory Commission Meeting Minutes July 18, 2019 G REGULAR BUSINESS (AGENDA ITEMS) Rule change recommendation Commission removed wording "temporary or seasonal" but otherwise resolved to recommend the adoption of the rule change Resolution to move artisans to annual stalls Commission was in favor of the resolution but decided to invite public comment before making a decision, since it was so different from the first resolution. Commission also invited public to submit alternative proposals. H NEW BUSINESS (NON-AGENDA ITEMS) I REPORTS Market Manager Report Received and Filed J SECOND PUBLIC COMMENT (NOT LIMITED TO AGENDA ITEMS) Ann Sheppard, artisan vendor, opposed second proposal (the one submitted this meeting). Hoped the commission could find a way to award extra artisan stalls before this years producers received them, because year gap is so large Christine Schopieray, artisan vendor, reitterated that the system is not fair for artisan vendors who have been at market a long time. Also suggested more advertising of the market credit card token system.
