Chambers, Jr. City Council Chambers Housing and Human Welfare Housing and Human Welfare Standing Committee Minutes September 18, 2018 1. Call To Order Chairwoman Henson called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. 2. Roll Call Present: 2- Alderwoman Henson and Alderwoman Tierney 3. Business before Committee a. Approval of Minutes HHW061918 Approval of Minutes for the Regular Meeting Alderman Paone moved to approve. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Henson, Alderwoman Tierney and Paone b. Appointments and reappointments to Committees AP-27-18 The Appointment of Andre Atkins to the Board of the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis Mr. Atkins was present and answered questions from the committee. Alderman Paone moved to recommend favorably. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Henson, Alderwoman Tierney and Paone c. ID-263-18 Development Update: Planning and Zoning Discussed by the committee. 4. Legislation before Committee O-8-18 Adequate Public Facilities - Adequate School Facilities - Standards - For the purpose of amending the test for additional school capacity by requiring schools with enrollment greater than ninety five percent of the State-Rated Capacity to be listed as closed on the annual school utilization chart; and matters generally relating to adequate school facilities. Alderman Paone moved to Recommend Favorably the following amendment: Amendment #1 Change percentage from 95% to 100% Elementary and Middle Schools Failed for lack of second Alderman Savidge was present and provided the committee with a recap of the last Rules and City Government Committee's meeting on this legislation. The Committee would like for the legislation to be placed on the October's Work Session agenda. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Henson, Alderwoman Tierney and Paone O-22-18 Food Handling Establishments - Polystyrene Food Service Products - Prohibition - For the purpose of prohibiting the sale and use of expanded polystyrene foam products at food service businesses located in the City; providing certain definitions; and providing for a penalty for violations. Alderman Savidge was present and answered questions from the committee. Alderwoman Tierney moved to recommend favorably. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderwoman Henson, Alderwoman Tierney and Paone 5. Adjournment Upon motion duly made, seconded and adopted, the meeting was adjourned at 6:53 PM.
