Chambers, Jr. City Council Chambers Public Safety Committee Public Safety Committee Standing Committee Meeting February 16, 2022 Minutes Call To Order Chairwoman Pindell Charles called the meeting to order at 3:31 p.m. Roll Call Present: 3- Alderman Gay, Alderwoman Pindell Charles and Alderwoman O'Neill Approval of Agenda (any changes to the agenda should be made here) Alderwoman O'Neill moved to adopt the Special Meeting Agenda as amended to change the order of the agenda in order to hear ID-15-22 prior to the legislation. Seconded. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderman Gay, Alderwoman Pindell Charles and Alderwoman O'Neill 1. Legislation before Committee Ordinances O-1-22 Fire Prevention Code - Sprinkler Systems - For the purpose of requiring property owners to install sprinkler systems; encouraging property owners to solicit bids from licensed minority business enterprises; identifying loan eligibility requirements under the sprinkler assistance revolving fund; clarifying costs that may be funded; establishing a loan amount; identifying loan repayment criteria; setting a date for sprinkler installation compliance; identifying the responsibility of applicable property owners; identifying the appropriate body for appeals; and generally relating to the Fire Prevention Code. Fire Chief Remaley, and Fire Protection Engineer Ruth, were present and answered questions from the committee. Alderwoman O'Neill moved to recommend favorably O-1-22. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye: 3- Alderman Gay, Alderwoman Pindell Charles and Alderwoman O'Neill O-4-22 Aggressive Panhandling - For the purpose of clarifying that aggressive panhandling is a misdemeanor offense; and generally relating to aggressive City of Annapolis Page 2 Public Safety Committee Standing Committee Meeting February 16, 2022 Minutes panhandling. Alderwoman O'Neill moved to postpone O-4-22 until the next Public Safety Committee meeting. Seconded. A roll call vote was taken.
