Call to Order Vice Chair Borey called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm. B. Pledge of Allegiance Commissioner Erickson led the Pledge of Allegiance. C. Old Business E. New Business 21-631 Introduction of new commission member and city staff. The commissioners gave a brief history of their work experience related to their appointment to the Health and Human Services Commission. Vice Chair Borey called for a motion to open the nominations for chair person. Commissioner Brennan moved, seconded by Commissioner Erickson to open the nominations for the chair person. Yes - 5 No - 0 Vice Chair Borey called for nominations for the chair. Commissioner Brennan nominated Jeff Mitchell for the chair position. Vice Chair Borey called for nominations a second and third time. Vice Chair Borey called for a motion to close the nominations. Commissioner Kinner moved, seconded by Commissioner Erickson to close the nominations. Yes - 5 No - 0 Vice Chair Borey called for a motion to approve the nomination of Jeff Mitchell as the chair. Commissioner Kinner moved, seconded by Commissioner Erickson to accept the vote for Jeff Mitchell for chair person. Yes - 5 No - 0 Chair Mitchell called for a motion to open the nominations for vice chair. Commissioner Kinner moved, seconded by Vice Chair Borey to open the nominations for the vice chairperson. Yes - 5 No - 0 Chair Mitchell called for nominations for the vice chair. Commissioner Brennan nominated Commissioner Erickson for vice chair person. Chair Mitchell called for nominations a second and third time. Chair Mitchell called for a motion to close the nominations. Commissioner Kinner moved, seconded by Commissioner Brennan that the nominations for vice chair person be closed. Yes - 5 No - 0 Chair Mitchell called for a motion to approve the nomination of Mary Erickson as the vice chair. Yes - 5 No - 0 21-632 Consideration of approval of regular meeting minutes of April 26, 2021. Vice Chair Erickson moved, seconded by Commissioner Borey to approve the minutes from the April 26, 2021 regular meeting. 21-626 Presentation and discussion on conflicts of interest, open meeting law, public record law, parliamentary procedures and code of conduct by the city attorney. City Attorney Joel Stern gave a presentation on conflicts of interest, open meeting law, public record law, parliamentary procedures and code of conduct. 21-645 Discussion on Fiscal Year 22/23 Health and Human Services Application and Funding timeline. City Clerk Jennifer Pena gave a brief overview of the timeline for the funding process. F. Information and Reports The commissioners gave the following reports: Chair Mitchell: Rotary Club of Superstition Mountains is having their annual gold tournament on December 18, 2021, It starts at 10:00am and held at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort. Thanksgiving Dinner at Restoration Covenant Fellowship Church on November 25 at 11am. They are located at 9333 E. Main Street in Mesa, Arizona. Genesis Project is serving a Thanksgiving dinner and the Salvation Army gave away 200 boxes containing everything needed for a thanksgiving meal. Vice Chair Erickson: The Boys Girls Club will be moving in January to a new location. VFW Post 7968 is having a thanksgiving dinner for veterans at 1:00 pm on Thanksgiving day. G. Staff Liaison's Report City of Apache Junction, Arizona Page 3 Health and Human Services Meeting Minutes November 22, 2021 Commission 21-654 Update of upcoming agenda items: · Apache Junction City Code Volume I, § 2-11 Health and Human Services Commission · Ordinance No. 084, Establishment of the Community Health Commission · Ordinance No. 708, Establishment of the Health and Human Services Commission City Clerk Jennifer Pena said she would be working with Chair Mitchell on upcoming agenda items. Ms. Pena confirmed with the commissioners they would still like to have a meeting on December 27th at 5:00pm. H. Selection of Meeting Dates, Times, Location and Purpose 21-634 The regularly scheduled commission meetings are the fourth Monday of each month at 5:00pm in the city council chambers located at 300 E.
