CALL TO ORDER: 7 p.m. by Supervisor Paterek.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Smith, Paterek, Goetzinger, LeMieux and Swiacki
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
MINUTES:
Swiacki moved Goetzinger seconded to approve regular meeting minutes of January 9, 2013 as presented.

Swiacki moved seconded to approve special meeting minutes of January 17, 2013 as presented.

Swiacki moved Smith seconded to approve special meeting minutes of January 22, 2013 as presented.

SET/AMEND AGENDA: LeMieux moved Swiacki seconded to approve agenda as amended: Under New
Business remove: c) Township: Siren upgrade. Under Correspondence/Information, add: b) P.D.R. – Ken
DeCock, c) Christine Anderson. Motion CARRIED
CURRENT BILLS: Swiacki moved LeMieux seconded, to approve the previously paid bills of $27,229.54 –
township checks #22472 thru #22526, fire checks #12073 thru #12103, the payroll checks of $59,492.14 –
check #10841, thru #10944 and the current list of bills of $13,117.05, township checks #22527 thru #22536
and fire checks #12104 thru 12119 for a total of $98,838.73 as presented.

PUBLIC COMMENTS – AGENDA ITEMS: None
CORRESPONDENCE/INFORMATION:
Jim Tignanelli – Walter Reed National Military Medical Center – Mr. Tignanelli will be collecting items to
take with him for our wounded soldiers from February 6 to April 30th. He will personally deliver items to
Walter Reed during the week of May 12. A list of items is available at the township hall. Items can be
dropped of at Heidebreicht Chevrolet in Washington Township and Al Keller real estate office in Romeo.
P.D.R. – Ken DeCock presented the township with a certificate of appreciation by participating in the
Macomb Agricultural Purchase of Development Rights Committee that allows landowners the ability to
preserve their property as farmland.
Christine Anderson – Supervisor contacted township attorney as to whether the supervisor is allowed to
make or support a motion. Attorney replied and stated that a Supervisor in a general law township has the
authority to make a motion and support a motion made by another board member, as does every board
member.

Planning Commission re-appointment: Paterek moved Swiacki seconded to re-appoint Maureen Finn to
the Planning Commission for March 2013 to March 2016. Motion CARRIED
Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks: March 17-22, 2013: Paterek moved Goetzinger seconded to
allow Clerk Swiacki to attend MAMC Basic Institute at a cost of $600.00.

Fire Department: Budget amendments: Swiacki moved Smith seconded to approve amendments as
presented:
Line Item: 336-999 – Truck replacement move $16,000 to line item 336-810 insurance/licenses.
Line item: 336-977 – Building improvements move $3000 to line item 336-923 uniform allowance.
Line item: 336-977 – Building improvements move $2000 to line item 336-861 education/training.
Ayes: Paterek, Smith, Goetzinger, LeMieux, Swiacki Motion CARRIED
Fire Department: EMS extrication fee: Swiacki moved Paterek seconded to approve the amount of $500
for an extrication fee as presented.

Fire Department: Resignation – Angelina Bonino: Paterek moved Swiacki seconded to accept Angelina
Bonino’s resignation with regrets. Motion CARRIED
Transfer Site letter with assessment notice: LeMieux moved Goetzinger seconded to approve
expenditure of $220.55 to KCI to include information about transfer site with 2013 assessment notices.

Disorderly conduct ordinance: Paterek moved Swiacki seconded to postpone any action.

Art & Orchard Festival Fun Run – 5K, 10K, 15K – June 8, 2013: Swiacki moved LeMieux seconded to
support the Art & Orchard Festival Fun Run for June 8, 2013. Motion CARRIED
Fire Department: Resignation – Casimer Czerwinski: Paterek moved LeMieux seconded to accept
Casimer Czerwinski’s letter of resignation with regrets. Motion CARRIED

Fire Department: Jeff Scaife move to full time: Swiacki moved Paterek seconded to hire Jeff Scaife full
time – fire fighter/paramedic at a starting wage of $10 effective February 16, 2013, with a wage increase of
$1.50 after eight (8) months and after one (1) year, a .75 cent wage increase to $12.25 effective February
16, 2014. No retirement benefit will be disbursed until after two (2) years of employment.
Ayes: Swiacki, Paterek, Goetzinger, LeMieux, Smith Motion CARRIED
PUBLIC COMMENT: Heard from the floor: Monica Job, Al Patchek, Steve Jerzewski, Jessie Kanehl and
Cris Martin.
