Athens Ben Epps Airport Authority Meeting May 30, 2023, 3:00PM Minutes Live Stream on ACCGOV YouTube Channel https://youtube.com/live/PkWML6yySFY?feature=share In attendance: Mike Mathews, Grant Tribble, Diane Napier, Keith Sanders Apologies: David Asman, Craig Westwood, Jeff Benjamin Note-taker: Davin Welter 1) Chair Update and announcements: Mr. Tribble welcomed the participants and previewed the agenda. He noted there was not a quorum. 2) April Meeting Minutes: Because of the lack of a quorum, the April minutes will need to be approved at the June meeting. 3) Airport Manager Reports a) Financial & Operations Report: Mr. Mathews reported on the airport financials. Dr. Napier asked about the Hertz lease and Mr. Mathews gave an update. b) Capital Improvement Project Updates: Mr. Mathews reported that the airport had a lightning strike to the main electrical box unit which is next to the tower. This primarily affected taxiway Alpha. Report on Projects - Instrument landing system is back up. All passed inspection/review. - Currently paving 2/20. Hoping to complete by June 9 - Taxiway Alpha- ACC approved moving forward with the design stage. RS&H to begin work on that immediately - Fencing- ACC approved the first project piece (about $800k) in a prior meeting. This will include 10’ high fence for large segments of the AHN perimeter (that Mr. Mathews described) and includes 10’ clearing on each side of the new fence. - Sewer line just beyond the south end of runway 2/20. Areas of broken sewer lines were discovered. Mr. Mathews has been working with Public Utilities for restoration of the sewer lines so that runway overrun area work can continue. - Self service gas- this will be an $80-90K project. Progress continues. c) Marketing & Outreach: Mr. Mathews had no update but Mr. Tribble asked Mr. Mathews if there is an estimate of how air traffic might be during this Fall’s football season, and expectations are for it to be lighter than last year due to the home schedule. 4) Old Business a) None 5) New Business a) None 6) Standing Committees: Issues & Updates a) Business/Finance: Mr. Sanders had no report.  b) Operating: Mr. Asman was not present and had no report. c) Air Service Development/Marketing: Mr. Mathews reviewed the recent air services conference in Augusta.
