Chair’s Report:  Guest: Ian Karra from Columbia Residential: SPLOST 2020 #2 – Affordable Housing o Ian was not able to attend the meeting. o Volunteers for a subcommittee to connect with Columbia Residential (developers working on Bethel Homes project): Beatrice, Jan, Darcie, Esra, and Andrew.  Opportunity to collaborate from DA Office o District Attorney (DA) Deborah Gonzalez is a former ACAC member. Her office will issue a call for art soon for “Seats of Justice” project: people can paint 20 oak chairs from the office; cash prizes for top 4 submissions.  o DA office has asked for some ACAC members to act as judges for competition and for our help to promote on social media. Volunteers for provisional judging panel: Montu, Patrice, Jan, Serena.  Resuming in-person meetings? o We will meet virtually in July. We will plan to move forward with a hybrid set-up in August.  Do you want to join Strategy or Outreach subcommittee? o Andrew will send out an email in the next week. Treasurer’s Report: End of Year spending o A list of proposed expenses were sent out via email last week. o Motion to accept the year-end spending as outlined in the email from Andrew, with the addition of $500: Donna Brumby. Second: Patrice Green. Yay: 9. Nay: 0. Motion passes. Project Reports: Clayton (underway), Greenway (Contract pending, assistants selected, assistant contracts pending), Fire Hall #2 (delivery this week, July dedication), Cooperative Extension (August completion), Dudley Park (underway), Whitehall Roundabout (underway), Poet Laureate (contract pending, announcement TBD), Music Walk of Fame (announcement TBD, install by August, Athfest celebration?), Hawthorne/Oglethorpe (site visit, budget change), Greenway II (user group meeting 6/18) - Greenway: Local artist assistants to the out-of-town artist have been identified. Discussion around budgeting in future for local artist assistants for every major art project, not just the ones with out-of- town artists like this project. - Dudley Park: Discussion around how insurance policy, engineering reviews, and other costs eat up large parts of project budgets like this one. We should consider how we address this moving forward and ideate ways we can solve these budget issues. Tatiana is actively looking into past years project budgets. - Music Walk of Fame: 5 winners were announced today in a press release and Athens Banner Herald story. The Outreach team will explore how to celebrate and amplify the new and existing plaques in September around the time of AthFest. - Hawthorne/Oglethorpe: Art budget from SPLOST will be closer to $6,000. We may need to utilize discretionary funds to boost the budget to $10,000. Other two intersections to think about later will be at Chase & Oneta and Mitchell Bridge & Tallassee closer to 2025-26. AICA: ● Arts in Community Awards 2021, coming in fall Outreach: ● Ribbon cuttings, etc. ● Outreach meetings ● Files have been moved from the old Outreach closet to Tatiana’s office. 2  ● Outreach team can potentially add ACAC monthly highlights with the Mayor & Commission via “Snapshot” through Tatiana’s office. ● Look for meeting invite from Andrew and Patrice by next week. Next Meeting: Virtual. In August, we will move to a hybrid format based at the Lyndon House. Next Meeting Date: July 12, 2021 3
