ATHENS IN MOTION COMMISSION Education & Communications Subcommittee Meeting Minutes - July 12, 2022 4pm - 6pm, via WebEx Attending Teresa Friedlander – AiMC (chair E&C Subcomittee) Randy Halstead – AiMC Scott Long – Bike Athens Daniel Sizemore – ACC TPW Blaine Van Note – AiMC UGA liaison Call to order 4:05 pm 1. AiM Brochure (need Bike Athens input) Scott Long needs a brochure explaining Athens in Motion, how people can interact with it, project status, and FAQs Teresa will outline the text based on work the AiMC has done. It will be useful to have a QR code which links to an interactive map such as the one on Bike Athens website provided by UGA. Also contact information and links to public comment. 2. Social Media - Hoot Suite (or similar) - Monthly posts (minimum) Social media management software can be expensive and might not be something we are ready to invest time and money in at present. The Education and Communications Subcommittee will meet monthly to develop an “official” AiM post for our Facebook page and Instagram account. For July, we will highlight the situation at College Station Road. If possible, Randy will make a site visit to snap some photographs of the hazard and signage. Our message to bicyclists and pedestrians is not to violate the barriers. The danger of subsidence is great. Our August post will be about school starting up. Blaine will follow up with UGA about messages about getting around Athens safely on foot and bike. 3. Tabling Events: - AthFest - Twilight - Greenlife Expo - AthHalf The consensus is that the Entire AiM Commission should develop a list of events where our presence would be beneficial. We have tabling materials ready to go for any events which Commissioners are able to manage. In addition, Athens in Motion can including bicycling events coinciding with Athens events such as PorchFest and the Holiday Parade. Teresa will email the Commission to ask for people’s input. 4. AiM Webpage Requirements - Contents - Design/navigation Daniel maintains the ACC.gov web pages for Athens in Motion. One describes the Commission and lists the commissioners. The other links to the AiM Plan and other information. Teresa would like to develop a more pleasing user experience that makes navigation easy. Daniel continues to develop interactive maps which the Plan page could link to. There exists a project page with information about projects currently in development. We need to make this information easy for the public to find and access. Daniel asked Teresa to find some “visually pleasing” examples of websites and to develop a list of requirements. Adjournment 4:05 pm
