1. Social Media Intern
Athens in Motion Education & Communications Subcommittee will request FY23 funding for a part-time
Social Media Intern whose job responsibilities would be:
● Develop ideas and content
● Post content under AiMC direction
● Recommend targeting strategies to increase reach and engagement
● Report to AiMC on social media metrics
● Maintain record of posts and responses, clicks, shares, etc.
Athens in Motion would oversee and approve the intern’s work before he/she posts on any social media
platform. This engagement would run till the end of FY23. If AiMC is satisfied with the work and the
intern wishes to continue, the contract would be renewed for FY24, assuming the funding request is
approved.
Daniel requested that Teresa ask for AiMC’s vote to approve the $3,000 expenditure at the January
2023 meeting.
There was discussion about what hourly pay to this 1099 employee. ACCGov currently pays $15.60 per
hour. The attendees feel that $20 per hour would be more attractive to talent, but would eat the budget
faster (150 vs 192 hours). It would be impossible to set an hourly wage that would yield a net per hour
wage of $20 without the aid of a crystal ball and private information about the contractor’s other
income.
2. FY 23 Proposed Expenditures
Proposed spending for current AiMC Budget
● $3,000 for social media intern
● $3,500 for reopening AiM Plan Wikimap (Toole)
● $2,000 for T-shirts or other swag
● $3,500 for additional support from Toole on public engagement
3. FY 24 Budget
● $6,000 - $7,800 for social media intern
Assuming the Social Media Intern position continues to be needed.
● $3,500 for Open Streets event:
Scott has reached out to other Open Streets organizations and estimates that a budget of
$7,500 is more realistic for the inaugural event. Signs and other purchases can be reused if
correctly designed.
● $2,500 for additional support from Toole on public engagement
● $4,500 for video production partnering with PIO and BikeAthens
4. Website Building
Daniel shared his JamBoard which defines the scope and menu-levels for a future Athens in Motion
landing page. The group discussed whether the webpage should encompass all things bike and
pedestrian or just be about Athens in Motion. Teresa is of the opinion that the former makes more sense
as the AiM page can point to various resources, organizations, policies, etc., which are already available
online.
5. Logo Decision
Discussion about alternatives and then vote on final recommendation to AiMC
6. Adjournment
Teresa adjourned the meeting at 5:30.
