Lauren opened the meeting at 4:12 pm
Roll Call – Quorum achieved
Public Comment – Marilyn Zumwalt, 1940 Cherokee Rd Winterville, GA 30683, Board member of Family/Staff
Association for Winterville Elementary School –school interested in Safe Routes to School and has received
GDOT grant. Some families fall outside of Winterville designation for grant. Would like that area priority be re-
visited for future consideration (currently Tier 3)

Mateo Fennel, Community Forester for Athens-Clarke County, also a resident on Cherokee Rd – frequent jogger
along Cherokee corridor, lot of traffic, dangerous

Lauren shared the agenda and entertained a motion to accept. Ed motioned to accept the agenda; Randy
seconded. The agenda was approved unanimously.

Park Planning
Daniel Sizemore on behalf of Todd Miller
• Firefly Traill Expansion Phase III – still working on acquiring easements. Project completion goal is
December 2025
• Greenway Trail Expansion – Oak/Oconee St Bridge replacement/Greenway underpass – Contract has
been awarded. First step is to adjust utilities
• Sandy Creek Nature Center improvements – from Walker Hall down to new bridge, repaving and conduit
rough-in for potential future projects
Transportation and Public Works

Katie Goodrum, Vision Zero Coordinator
• 2024 Budget review
• Riverbend Road
o 85% plans have been approved
o Notice to proceed has been issued
• Cherokee Rd – Tier 1 pedestrian, Tier 2 bicycle
o currently do not have funds for projects
o will being pricing out phases
• Safe Routes to School
• Webpage development - will review with Education Committee
• Monthly Crash Report - still working on bringing this back

• UGA - Blaine Van Note – new interactive map with bike racks and bike lanes
• Greenway - Ed Maioriello – Greenway open near E23 College Station Park & Ride
• TSPLOST 2023 - Allen Jones – no updates
AiM Commissioner Round
• Ed – Princeton Mill to Macon Highway gap in connectivity. Brought to Ed by a community member.
Technically is a sidewalk gap and is currently listed as a Tier 3 priority. Will refer community member to
wikimap.
• BikeAthens joy ride this Friday at 6:00 pm
• Craig rode new MUP on Newton Bridge Rd
• Allen mentioned a new Electric Bike Group in Athens
