The Committee will take a moment of silence to acknowledge and show respect to those who are no longer with us. B. Ms. Christine Davis-Johnson inquired about which families were helped, stating that her mother was required to pay rent prior to relocating. 2. Family names discussed in report unknown to first descendants. 3. Kelly Girtz inquired about geography and discussed allocation of funds elsewhere. 4. Charlene Marsh shared rough research timeline of Linnentown from 1900-1967. D. Subcommittee Report Jennifer Rice - Wall of Recognition Presentation a. Purpose: recommendations for a wall of recognition to acknowledge former residents – first of its kind in Athens i. What it would consist of: Family names, addresses, background of community, images of neighborhood and residents, educational info about urban renewal, where Lyndon Road & Peabody Street would’ve been b. Determination of location, information, and general design i. Met with representatives from Athens-Clarke County ii. Inspiration from Auburn Ave, Atlanta iii. Blaine Williams: Right of way considerations; met with Alison McCulick from UGA Community Relations to discuss plans but might need a more definitive idea of what will be there, need specifics. c. RECOMMENDATION: Walk of Recognition with several points of recognition i. Subcommittee in need of creative direction assistance d. ACTION: Motion for full committee to accept initial proposal for wall and move to next steps i. Mariah Parker seconded; Motion passed ii. E. Ms. Hattie Whitehead – Historical designation for homes moved from Linnentown a. Tommy Valentine of Historic Athens – assisting with process for historic designations for standing homes that were removed F. Legal challenges: gratuities clause ii. Need for collaboration with UGA for some intended goals iii. Inability to bind commissioner to vote at later date G. Ms. Hattie Whitehead - Resolution Changes: a. Brief overview of changes to resolution made by first descendants with goal to move forward: i. ACTION: Resolution tabled for next meeting for discussion with new context given about changes made by first descendants. H.
