McKenzie Bramblett (Callie Moore’s caregiver) Minutes  The meeting was called to order at 6 pm.  The Chair, Julita Sanders, began the meeting by considering the minutes from the September meeting.  Cameron Jay pointed out that it was Brandon who made the motion to change “she/her” pronouns to “they” in the Bylaws.  The Chair moved to accept the minutes with an amendment made to reflect this suggestion by Brandon. Danielle seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.  The Chair moved to reconsider the minutes from August.  Sarah explained that Myung asked that the minutes from the August meeting be amended to accurately list the question she asked about how long the terms were for both the Chair and Vice Chair. She also asked if the Vice Chair would be expected to succeed the Chair.  Cameron Jay moved to accept the minutes with an amendment made to reflect this. Tucker seconded. The motion passed unanimously.  The Chair moved to reconsider old business, which included the bylaws.  Sarah George went through the bylaws and explained the changes that were made based on the suggestions given at the previous meeting. Box 1868 ∙ Athens, Georgia 30603 (706) 613-3015 ∙ Email: inclusionoffice@accgov.com www.accgov.com  Megan about the maximum number of members that may be joined together without it being considered a meeting.  Sarah George explained that based on Open Meetings Law that no more than 8 members of the HRC may be joined together because this would be quorum.  The Chair suggested that the vote on the bylaws is delayed until the Commission receives the final version of the Bylaws at the next meeting.  The Chair turned the meeting over to Joseph D’Angelo and Sarah to lead the icebreaker activity. The activity involved the Commission first dividing themselves into three groups.  Joseph then asked each group to discover ten things that each person had in common with the exception of obvious traits like being members of the HRC or wearing shoes.  After the groups took turns reading off the list of commonalities, they were asked to reflect on the activity and what they took from it.  Each group then worked on defining the terms: mutual respect, human dignity, equal opportunity, and harmony. Once the groups determined their final definitions among themselves, they then posted the notes on the corresponding poster around the room.  Joseph and Sarah explained that this was an activity that would eventually help the Commission construct their mission statement.  Sarah and Joseph read off each sticky note so that the Commissioners can think about the definitions given by each small group.  Sarah shared that the next meeting is currently scheduled to happen on Wednesday, November 23, which is the day before Thanksgiving. For this reason, she recommended that the meeting be rescheduled.  The Chair suggested that the meeting be rescheduled to the Wednesday one week before its original date which would be November 16.
