Call to Order 4:50 Present: Nathan Stuck, Stacee Farrell, Stacy Smith, Jackie Sherry, Joe Hill, Theresa Bangert, LaDarius Thomas, James Alexander, Angela Huff, Jameson Glenn, Warren Abel, Josh Podvin, Allison Wright, Brian Santos, Josh Kim Absent: Carlos Pinto, Juliet Campbell, Cecile Riker, Stephanie Hall, Carter Coleman, Cameron Winter, Leah Leggett, Brad Rickard Retreat Goals and Expectations ● Help us find our place on the board ● Think big, advance the mission, develop new ideas, continue to think outside the box! ● Walk away with actionable to-dos for the next year Notecard Questions ● How do we be louder!? ○ Chamber Committee - more networking opportunities, getting in other networks ■ Look for those chamber events that you can present at ■ Chamber newsletter ○ Are we going to things that we aren’t going to? ○ Grass roots, low level social media campaign ■ BBM opportunity for them to post it and get interaction ● Chamber connection here too ■ Maybe the ACC Government website can highlight all boards somehow!? Those pages have a lot of exposure, more than the individual board pages ● Is there community feedback about the work we do? Does the community see the difference? ○ They see, maybe doesn’t know who does it (daffodils) ○ When residents get bulbs maybe give them a sign so they can put it in their yard ○ Cleanups - is there a way for folks to comment or leave feedback? ○ Neighborhoods or citizens as a group and we supply bulbs to ○ Supply to schools? ■ Not wait for them to ask, just go out there and do it ■ Maybe have yard signs saying bulbs donated by KACCB, join the effort ○ Diversify? ■ Daffodils require no maintenance so no one has to have responsibility for keeping them up ■ Daffodils are prolific and continue to multiply so that’s why we are the daffodil city and plant those ○ Tied to getting louder, too ○ Toolshed, yard sign? ○ Highway cleanups ■ Are good about taking and sharing the picture  ● What programs does the staff like the most, would you like to see them expand? ○ Carlos ■ Not one specific, always so happy after and sees how worth it it was ○ Stacy ■ Green School and the toolshed ■ That impact ■ Those that rely on the toolshed ■ We support a lot of other organizations to do great things ○ Stacee ■ Daffodil project ■ Beautification hopefully makes an impact to take pride in the community ■ Does a lot internally/emotionally ■ We do early blooms so GDOT doesn’t mow them ■ Could get colleagues out there to help volunteer; UGA is always involved; always the Friday before Thanksgiving break ■ Board members can be the voice to the community ● Litter Hotline, how does it work? ○ Warning letter goes to registered owner from ACC PD and KACCB Committee Breakouts ● Membership/Sponsorship: Stacee, Joe, Allison, Theresa ● Analytics: Stacy, Carter, Jameson ● Public Relations/Projects: Cecile, Josh, Stephanie, Brian ● Education/Outreach: Jackie, James, Angela, Cameron ● Business and Industry: Nathan, everyone else ● Groups will ○ Come up with new goals ○ What do you want to focus on in the next year Membership/Sponsorship also sat with Public Relations/Projects ● Realtor givebacks ○ Finding how it works and who to target ○ Utilizing Leah for connections ● Percentage Nights ○ 2x a month ○ Restaurants, breweries, etc. ○ Choose ones where you don’t have to say “I am with KACCB” but that blatantly give the percent of the night ● Chamber Networking ○ Going to events where we can share our message ○ Joe looking into how we can be the highlight speaker at a networking lunch ● Green Businesses ○ Targeting ones we know but using business connections we already have ○ Packets ○ Make it appealing for them, what are the benefits besides helping my community, but directly to my business  ● NEW EVENT ○ Terrapin on March 17! ○ “Percentage night” but they will give a donation bigger than :) ○ Programs will need to get on planning this! Analytics ● Program impact ○ Figure out ways to understand what we are looking to learn from the events and is it feasible ○ Look different for new vs, existing programs ● Using Litter Index ○ Not only does this committee understand it but does everyone ● Submitting info through debris tracker ○ What happens next? ○ What is follow up? ○ Who can I contact? ○ Just be taken right to the right person or connect you to groups ● New vs. established people at events Education/Outreach ● Love where you live grants ○ Script for promoting ○ Marketing ○ Social media (board help) ○ Making it a big to do ■ Bee Bee Clean present the check ■ Make it special recognition ■ Before and after ■ Follow up ○ Members have buy in to what the money would go to ■ Besides just “here is $1000 do what you want” ● Daffodils ○ Work with Kofers or home and garden businesses, maybe if people buy maybe they give a percentage ○ Home Depot, other places ○ Competition between schools or grade levels if we decide to target schools ○ Having fun, hanging out and having a good time ● BBM winners ○ Join board meetings ○ Continue buy-in somehow Business and Industry ● Got letter done last year, but haven’t sent it ● How many businesses are members ● How many have adopted highways ● How can we incentivize these businesses ● Collaboration  ○ How to involve the community more ● Long-term, maybe not deliverable this year ○ What it would look like to look at specific litter items ○ Restaurants can be different levels like 1. They compost, 2. They compost and don’t use plastic, 3. Etc. ○ Awarding businesses for going above and beyond We have overlap! ● Let’s try to put some thought around it and make sure we continue to talk about the progress of these things ● Not working in silos ● Coming with stuff prepared for the meeting ● Hard to get together outside of the meetings ○ Can we use the board meeting time to have a little breakout ○ We used to meet at 3:30, hard for some to get there then ○ Talked about meeting from 4-5:15, but definitely designated time for committees ○ Ok to have Zoom meetings or email with actions items and updates
