Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County, Georgia Special Called Session Friday, September 24, 2021 7:00 p.m. City Hall The Mayor and Commission of the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County met this date in a special called session. Present: Mayor Girtz, Commissioners Parker, Link, Wright, Denson, Houle, Edwards, and Myers. Absent: Commissioners Davenport, Thornton and Hamby. The purpose of the meeting was to consider the following agenda items. 1. Executive session to consider personnel matters 2. Status of the Internal Auditor’s continued appointment A motion was made by Commissioner Edwards, seconded by Commissioner Parker, to suspend Rules of Commission for consideration of items on this agenda. The motion passed by unanimous vote. A motion was made by Commissioner Edwards, seconded by Commissioner Myers, to enter into executive session to consider personnel matters. The motion passed by unanimous vote. The Mayor and Commission entered into executive session to consider personnel matters at 7:05 p.m. A motion was made by Commissioner Edwards, seconded by Commissioner Denson, to exit the executive session. The motion passed by unanimous vote and the meeting reconvened in open session at 7:30 p.m. Present: Mayor Girtz, Commissioners Davenport, Parker, Link, Wright, Denson, Houle, Edwards, and Myers. Absent: Commissioners Thornton and Hamby. A motion was made by Commissioner Wright, seconded by Commissioner Myers, as follows: Pursuant to Sections 2-105(b)(3) and 4-104(a) of the Charter and Sections 1.03 and 1.04 of her Employment Agreement, I move to terminate the appointment of Stephanie Maddox as Internal Auditor. A motion was made by Commissioner Edwards, seconded by Commissioner Link, to call the question. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
