ATHENS TOWN COUNCIL Minutes– December 15, 2015 Athens Town Hall The Athens Town Council met in regular session at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in the Athens Town Hall. Members present were, Roger Lokay, Jed Nolan, Timothy Pike, John David Smith, and Lynne White. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: On a motion by White second by Nolan, Council approved the Minutes of December 1, 2015 without objection. CITIZENS INPUT: No citizen appeared to address Council. EMPLOYEE REPORTS QUARTERLY DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS – Maintenance Department: Mark Parsell presented to Council the Maintenance Department report, which is attached with these minutes. OLD BUSINESS:  Speed Limit Radar Trailer – Tabled for a future meeting.  Progress of Committees – Soliciting interest for the Arts and Beautification Committee, Members will be selected: Lokay and Nolan presented ideas for members of the Arts and Beautification Committee.  Town Flag Duty – Pike presented ideas, awaiting more information.  Snow Blade for Truck – On a motion by Lokay second by Nolan, Council approved the purchase of a snow blade for the new town truck.  Police Car Issues – Council approved the purchase of a used police car, giving the mayor the authority to transact the purchase if the opportunity arose do so between Council meetings. NEW BUSINESS:  Comprehensive Mercer County Plan/Town of Athens Comprehensive Plan – WVU and Region I information: Pike discussed the comprehensive plan and will invite a representative from WVU to a future meeting to discuss work they have done to advance this effort. Athens Town Council Minutes 12-15-2015 OTHER BUSINESS, MAYORAL REPORTS, COUNCIL MEMBER INPUT: Council discussed planning to have a website report at the 1-19-2016 Council Meeting. Nolan reported the Public Safety Committee would meet in the next month. Council discussed the need to have the change of street names brought before Council. APPROVAL OF CURRENT BILLS (Action on Accounts): On a motion by Lokay, second by White, Council approved the current bills.
