ATHENS TOWN COUNCIL Minutes– December 1, 2015 Athens Town Hall The Athens Town Council met in regular session at 7:02 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in the Athens Town Hall. Members present were, Roger Lokay, Lisa Jennings, Jed Nolan, Timothy Pike, John David Smith, and Lynne White. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On a motion by White second by Nolan, Council approved the Minutes of November 16, 2015 without objection. CITIZENS INPUT No citizen appeared to address Council EMPLOYEE REPORTS QUARTERLY DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS – Fire Department: Lokay informed Council of the activities of the Fire Department. OLD BUSINESS:  Speed Limit Radar Trailer – Lilly is following up.  Progress of Committees –Nolan and Lokay will follow-up regarding membership and suggestions for the Arts and Beautification Committee.  Town Flag Duty – Clark and Pike to follow-up as to days observed and volunteers to put up and take down flags.  Contract amount and successful bidder approved/endorsed – on a motion by Lokay, second by Nolan Council agreed to award the contract to the low bidder, Main Street for $201,500. NEW BUSINESS:  Points of Information: Expenditure for dump truck and bladed, which has been approved was discussed with a motion to spend up to $23,500 to be approved at the next Council meeting.  Arts and Beautification Committee members will be selected at the next Council meeting. OTHER BUSINESS, MAYORAL REPORTS, COUNCIL MEMBER INPUT: Council discussed what our role would be in the comprehensive town plan. APPROVAL OF CURRENT BILLS (Action on Accounts): On a motion by Lokay, second by White, Council approved the current bills.
