ATHENS TOWN COUNCIL Minutes– March 1, 2016 Athens Town Hall The Athens Town Council met in regular session at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in the Athens Town Hall. Members present were, Roger Lokay, Jed Nolan, Timothy Pike, and John David Smith. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: On a motion by Lokay second by Nolan, Council approved the Minutes of February 2 and 16, 2016 without objection. CITIZENS INPUT: No citizens appeared before Council. EMPLOYEE REPORTS QUARTERLY DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS – Officer Lowe gave the Public Safety report, which is attached. OLD BUSINESS:  Progress, Recommendations, and Appointments of Committees – Financial and Public Safety Committees set their next respective meeting dates, Financial - March 3, 2016 and Public Safety - March 15, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Town Hall.  Web Site Design Report and Update – White and Pike discussed the progress of the website, with possible posting in thirty days. Lokay discussed the progress of the text messaging system. NEW BUSINESS:  Pikeview project graduation – Council agreed to task Pike with appropriate support of the Pikeview project graduation as has been done in recent years. OTHER BUSINESS, MAYORAL REPORTS, COUNCIL MEMBER INPUT: Pike discussed the water leak that recently occurred. Additionally, Pike discussed the FEMA Disaster grant to be used for the back-up generator for the water plant. APPROVAL OF CURRENT BILLS (Action on Accounts): On a motion by Nolan, second by Lokay, Council approved the current bills.
