AGENDA ITEM NO. 3. – A. CITY OF AVENAL SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF THE AVENAL CITY COUNCIL/ SUCCESSOR AGENCY/HOUSING AUTHORITY MONDAY, JUNE 19, 2017; 6:00 P.M. AVENAL CITY HALL 919 SKYLINE BLVD.; AVENAL, CA 93204 MINUTES Mayor Pro Tem Ovalle called the meeting to order at 4:01 p.m. Council Members Present: Woolley, Ovalle, Preciado. Council Members Absent: Moreno, Gravelle. Staff Present: Ortiz, Whitten. Legal Counsel: None. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Lead by Mayor Preciado. CITY CLERK: Government Code Section 54952.3: The members of the City Council, Successor Agency and Housing Authority are entitled to receive a total of $300.00 per month as a result of being elected to the City Council. They receive no other compensation for sitting as a member of Successor Agency and Housing Authority. PUBLIC COMMENT / ANNOUNCEMENTS & UNSCHEDULED APPEARANCES: None. NEW BUSINESS: A. Consider Entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with Steam House Entertainment for the Use of Theater Facility: Melissa Whitten, City Manager, reported that the City Council will consider a Memorandum of Understanding with Steam House Entertainment, in order to provide movies and other appropriate entertainment at the Avenal Theater. This would be beneficial to the city and the community to partner with Steam House Entertainment; all expenses shall be equally shared. Also, on page 1, item 4, add an additional date, June 24, 2017. The theater will be showing Top Gun and Captain America. Staff recommends that: 1) the City Council approve Memorandum of Understanding/Agreement between the City of Avenal and Steam House Entertainment for the use of the Avenal Theater as described in said document; 2 ) Authorize the City Manager to sign and execute said MOU/Agreement; and, 3) add the date, June 24, 2017. RESOLUTION NO. 2017-31: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AVENAL ENTERING INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU)/AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF AVENAL AND STEAM HOUSE ENTERTAINMENT FOR USE OF THE AVENAL THEATER. A motion was made by Mayor Pro Team Ovalle, seconded by Councilmember Woolley and carried. Roll Call Vote: AYES: Ovalle, Woolley, Preciado. NOES: None. ABSENT: Moreno, Gravelle. ABSTAIN: None. CORRESPONDENCE/ANNOUNCEMENTS/CLOSING COMMENTS: None. ADJOURNMENT. The meeting reopened at 4:17 p.m. with no action out of Closed Session.
