BANGOR BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING
HELD AT 197 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, BANGOR, PA
MINUTES MARCH 23, 2026 - 6:30 PM
CALL TO ORDER AND PLEDGE TO FLAG
ROLL CALL

PUBLIC COMMENTS:
1. Eleanor Rideout was present from 101 Dante Street for an update on how the funds from the sale of
Episcopal Apartments will be distributed to help seniors. Solicitor Ceraul stated that updates are on the
United Way of the Lehigh Valley website.
2. Maria was present from 153 South Main Street to inquire about the maintenance on Long’s Alley.
Manager Reider and Solicitor Ceraul addressed her questions.
3. Leila Ross was present from 129 Messinger Street to inquire about sidewalk maintenance in the
borough. Manager Reider addressed her questions.
ACTION ITEMS:
1. A MOTION to approve payment of the bills totaling $502,925.13 was made by Sperling, seconded by
Augustine. All were in favor. MOTION carried.
2. A MOTION to waive the yard sale permit fee for the Memorial Day weekend community wide yard
sale held from May 22nd to May 24th was made by Augustine, seconded by Capone. All were in favor.
MOTION carried.
3. Manager Reider reported that Chief Jones would like to use approximately $950.00 from the Police
Wish Fund to purchase airsoft guns and associated equipment for training purposes. A MOTION was
made by Sperling, seconded by Schweitzer to approve the Police Wish Fund purchase. All were in
favor. MOTION carried.
4. Manager Reider and Council discussed the draft of a new Fats, Oils and Greases Ordinance that was
recommended by the Authority and the draft Fire Department Ordinance.
COUNCIL COMMENTS:
1. Chief Engle gave Council a Fire Department update.
2. Chief Jones gave Council a Police Department update.
3. Mayor McCloughan gave Council an update on his recent activities as Mayor.
4. Council Member Augustine asked for an update on the removal of the dugouts at Pennico Park.
5. Council Member Schweitzer stated that the borough’s disruptive conduct ordinance could potentially
be used to address ongoing issues at the park involving kids and vandalism.
6. Manager Reider gave Council a park/pool update.
ADJOURNMENT:
A MOTION to adjourn was made by Sperling, seconded by Augustine. All were in favor. MOTION carried.
The Bangor Borough Council Meeting adjourned at 7:01 P.M.

be provided at the next Council meeting.
