4A. Consider action to approve Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board minutes from the February 7,
2019 regular meeting.
Barbara Wolanski made the motion to approve the minutes as presented. Seconded by Kelly
Dawson and approved on a 6 to 0 vote.
5. ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION
5A. Discussion concerning an updated sidewalk map and any future repairs, replacements, and
construction.
The Bastrop Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board met in a Regular Meeting on Thursday, March 7, 2019,
at 6: 00 p. m. at the Bastrop City Hall Council Chambers, located at 1311 Chestnut Street, Bastrop, Texas.

Members present were Josh Gordon, Betty Rucker, Kelly Dawson, Dorothy Skarnulis, Barbara Wolanski,
Jimmy Crouch, Jamie Creacy, and guest new member Margaret Robinson. Staff present were Curtis
Hancock, Heather Ambrose and YMCA Director Terry Moore.
At 6: 00 p. m. Chair Josh Gordon called the meeting to order with a quorum being present. Youth Board
Member Allison Hewitt was absent. Councilman Liaison Lyle Nelson was not in attendance.
2A. Parks and Recreation Report
Presentation was made by Assistant Public Works Director Curtis Hancock on behalf of Parks
Superintendent David Junek.
2B. Bastrop State Park Report
Presentation was made by Board Member Jamie Creacy, Bastrop State Park Superintendent.
2C. Bastrop YMCA Report
Presentation was made by Bastrop YMCA Director Terry Moore.
2D. Youth Parks Activity Committee (YPAC Report
Youth Representative Allison Hewitt was not in attendance and no written report was provided.
2E. Task Force for Certified Habitat
Presentation was made by Board Member Dorothy Skarnulis related to the Bird City Texas
decision.
3. CITIZEN COMMENTS
Susan Leslie, Bastrop County Audubon Society, commented regarding the Bird City Texas decision.
4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES

5B. Discussion concerning the State Park trail including possible schedule for proposed work and
status of funding.

SC. Discussion concerning an update on the Wheeled Sports Plaza ( Skate Park).
Presentation was made by Assistant Public works Director Curtis Hancock; no updates at this time.
5D. Discussion concerning the Old Iron Bridge future possible repairs and schedule and consider
action for the creation of an information card to be placed at the locked entrance gate.
Presentation was made by Assistant Public Works Director, Curtis Hancock. No update at this
time. No action taken.
5E. Discussion and consider action on recommendations for designating and marking bike
lanes/ paths in town.
Board Member Jimmy Crouch explained this agenda item. Discussion was held, and no action was
taken.
5F. Consider action related to the City of Bastrop' s Bird City Texas certification status and future steps
to be taken.
Motion was made by Dorothy Skarnulis to change the name of the group working toward this
City Coalition" and to continue with 2020 certification process, motion was
status to " Bird
seconded by Jimmy Crouch. Motion passed by a vote of 6- 0.
5G. Discussion concerning the status of the Youth Member for the Parks and Public Tree Advisory
Board.
No updates from the Youth Advisory Group. Parks Board President Josh Gordon stated he had a
contact that is interested; the Committee instructed him to have him complete an application.
5H. Consider action on the nomination and election of the Chair for the Parks and Public Tree Advisory
Board.
A motion was made by Parks Board Member Betty Rucker to nominate Jimmy Crouch as the new
Chair for the Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board. Motion was seconded by Barbara Wolanski.
Motion passed by a vote of & 0.
