MINUTES OF CITY OF BASTROP PARKS AND PUBLIC TREE ADVISORY BOARD December 3, 2020 The Bastrop Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board met in a Regular Meeting on December 3, 2020, at 6: 00 p. m. via remote GoToMeeting. Members present were President Jimmy Crouch, Kelly Dawson, Barbara Wolanski, Jamie Creacy, Margaret Robinson, Kerry Fossler, Betty Rucker, and Liaison Councilman Dock Jackson. Staff present were David Junek, Curtis Hancock, and Terry Moore. Dock Jackson and Barbara Wolanski attended remotely. 1. CALL TO ORDER At 6: 00 p. m. Chairperson Jimmy Crouch called the meeting to order with a quorum being present. 2. STAFF AND BOARD BRIEFINGS 2A. Parks and Recreation Report Presentation was made by Parks Superintendent David Junek. The issues on the wheeled sports complex will go to council in their January meeting. The trash cans at Fisherman' s Park have been replaced with new, removable ones. There were 31 new benches installed on Main Street. 2B. Bastrop State Park Report Parks Board Member Jamie Creacy, Parks Superintendent, gave a presentation. Prescribed burns in park have begun. Native plants have been planted on the golf course. Culvert repairs are due to begin in June 2021 by TxDot. 2C. Bastrop YMCA Report The reportwas given by Terry Moore. The Bastrop YMCA will be closing December 18, 2020. YMCA will continue to operate the pool at the state park. 2D. Bird City Coalition Report This report was given by Kerri Fossler. The annual report is due by the end of the month. The application process to keep Bastrop' s designation as Bird City is done every three years. Two Bird City signs have been received and the locations will need council' s approval. 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no citizen' s comments at this meeting. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES 4A. Consider action to approve Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board minutes from the August 6, 2020 regular meeting. Motion was made by Board Member Betty Rucker and seconded by board member Kerri Fossler. Vote was unanimous. 5. ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION 5A. Update and discuss history of the park names project. Research on the parks is currently being done. Highlights of each park will begin on social media in February 2021. 56. Discuss YMCA closure and its potential impact. Bastrop Parks Board and Public Tree Advisory Board Minutes December 3, 2020 The City Manager will present this issue to council on December 8 to discuss options to save the YMCA. ADJOURNMENT Board Member Betty Rucker made motion to adjourn the meeting at 6: 46 p. m and was seconded by Margaret Robinson, carrying without objection.
