Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board Meeting

MINUTES OF CITY OF BASTROP PARKS AND PUBLIC TREE ADVISORY BOARD June 3rd, 2021 The Bastrop Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board met in a Regular Meeting on Thursday, June 3rd, 2021, at 6: 00 p. m. at City Hall. Members present were Barbara Wolanski, Betty Rucker and Kerry Fossler, along with Liaison Councilman Dock Jackson. Absent were Board Members Margaret Robinson and Jamie Creacy. Staff present were Curtis Hancock, Thomas Martinez and Terry Moore. 1. CALL TO ORDER At 6: 13 p. m. Vice Chair Barbara Wolanski called the meeting to order. 1A. Announcement of new Place 3 Parks Board member, Sarah Rooney. 2. STAFF, BOARD, AND COMMITTEE MONTHLY OPERATIONAL REPORTS 2A. Parks and Recreation Report Report was given by staff Thomas Martinez. 2B. Bastrop State Park Report No report was given. 2C. Recreation Report Report was given by Terry Moore. 2D. Bird City Coalition Report Report was given by Kerry Fossler. Verbal addition to report —TPWD offered Bastrop 1990 grant to build bird -watching structure. 2E. Council Liaison Report Report was given by Councilman Dock Jackson. July is National Parks & Recreation Month. Parks Board requested to attend June 22nd City Council Meeting to receive proclamation. 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no citizen comments 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES 4A. Consider action to approve Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board minutes from the May 6th regular meeting. Motion was made by Betty Rucker and seconded by Board Member Kerry Fossler. Vote was unanimous. 5. ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION SA. Elect New Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board Chair  Motion was made by Parks Board Member Kerry Fossler to nominate Barbara Wolanksi as the new Chair for the Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board. Motion was seconded by Betty Rucker. Vote was unanimous. 5B. Update and discuss the Wheeled Sports Plaza Phase I project. Public Works Director Curtis Hancock gave an update. 5C. Update and discuss the Disc Golf in Bob Bryant Park. Public Works Director Curtis Hancock gave an update. 5D. Update and discuss the Master Gardeners moving to Bob Bryant Park. Public Works Director Curtis Hancock gave an update. 5D. Update and discuss adding an Overlook Park at 300 Water. Public Works Director Curtis Hancock gave an update. 5E. Update and discuss Soccer at Pickleball. Public Works Director Curtis Hancock gave an update. 6. UPDATES 6A. Invitation for input from Board Members related to issues for possible inclusion on the next meeting agenda. Public Works Director Curtis Hancock gathered the topics — Wheeled Sports Plaza, Disc Golf at Bob Bryant, Master Gardeners moving the Community Garden to Bob Bryant, Pickleball, Sports Field, Recreation Center, 7 ADJOURNMENT Board Member Betty Rucker made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 7: 02pm.
