Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board Meeting

MINUTES OF CITY OF BASTROP PARKS ANIS PUBLIC TREE ADVISORY BOARD July 1st, 2021 The Bastrop Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board met in a Regular Meting on Thursday, July Ist, 2021, at 6:00 p. m. at City Hall. Members present were Barbara Wolanski, Betty Bucker, Margaret Robinson, Sarah Rooney and Kerry Fossler, along with Liaison Councilman Cock Jackson. Absent were Board Member Jamie Creacy and staff Terry Moore. Staff present were Curtis Hancock and Thomas Martinez, J.. CALL, TO ORDER At 6: 00 p. m. Chair Barbara Wolanski called the meeting to order. 2. STAFF, BOARD, AND COMMITTEE MONTHLY OPERATIONAL REPORTS 2A. Parks and Recreation Report Report was given by staff Thomas Martinez. 2B. Bastrop State Park Report Written report from Jamie Creacy was read and discussed. 2C. Recreation Report Written report from Terry Moore was read and discussed. 217. Bird City Coalition Report' Report was given by Kerry Fossler. 2E. Council Liaison Report Report was given by Councilman Dock Jackson, 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS Jack Lewis of Pine Forest signed up to speak. Address 167 McAllister Rd. Bastrop, TX 78602. He spoke of pickleball as an accessible, fast-growing sport that attracts players of all ages and abilities. He encouraged us to build more courts with permanent nets and a roof - a court dedicated to pickleall instead of sharing with other spurts on the same court. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES A. Consider action to approve Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board minutes from the June 3rd regular meeting. Motion was made by Betty Rucker and seconded by Board Member Sarah Rooney. Vote was unanimous. S. ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION 5A. Elect New Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board Vice Chair  Motion was made by Parks Beard Member Kerry Fossler to nominate Margaret Robinson as the new Vice Chair for the Parks and Public Tree Advisory Board. Motion was seconded by Betty Rucker. Vete was unanimous. 513. Update and discuss the Wheeled Sports Plaza Phase I project. Public Works Director Curtis Hancock gave an update. 5C. Update and discuss the Disc Golf in Bob Bryant Park. Public Works Director Curtis Hancock gave an update. 5D. Update and discuss the Birding Blind in Bob Brunt Park. Public Works director Curtis Hancock gave an update. 5E. Update and discuss Purple Martin Houses in Bob Bryant. Public Works Director Curtis Hancock gave an update. 5E. Update and discuss Board Vacancies and Expiring Terms. Public Warks Director Curtis Hancock gave an update. 5G. Update and discuss the naming of new trail after Mrs. Dorothy Skarnulis. Public Works Director Cu rtis Hancock gave an update. G. UPDATES 6A. Invitation for input from Board Members related to Issues for possible inclusion on the next meeting agenda. Public Works Director Curtis Hancock gathered the topics — skipping our August meeting due to Homecoming, Wheeled Sports Plaza, Disc Golf at Bob Bryant, Birding Blind at Bob Bryant. 7. ADJOURNMENT Board Member Betty Rucker made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 7: 05pm. Vice Chair Margaret Robinson seconded.
