MEMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Judith Mudge, Jennifer Cappell and Gary Green MEMBERS ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Vicki Houser, Susan Bedsole, Russ Claggett, Paul Engels, Larry Hausman, Martin Erskine and Howard Holt CALL TO ORDER: President Mudge called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM, noting a quorum was present. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS: There were no petitions or communications. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: 1. A motion was made by Comm. Cappell, supported by Comm. Green, to approve the Civil Service Commission April 23, 2012 meeting minutes. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. 2. A motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by Comm. Cappell, to approve the Civil Service Commission March 25, 2013 meeting minutes. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. REPORTS: There were no reports. OLD BUSINESS: Comm. Green inquired as to the status of the Fire Training Officer exam sign-up sheet in the stations. Clerk Houser informed the Commission the test provider, I/O Solutions was still developing the test, noting I/O Solutions did not have a standard test for this position. Ms. Houser stated she was working with I/O Solutions to determine the testing dates. 1 NEW BUSINESS 1. 2013 Amended Civil Service Rule Book Clerk Houser distributed the 2013 Amended Civil Service Rule Book to the Civil Service Commission. PUBLIC COMMENTS Russ Claggett, Employee Relations Director, expressed, on behalf of the City Administration, his appreciation to Chief Hausman for the many years of service he has provided to the City of Battle Creek, stating Chief Hausman is one of the most dedicated public servants he has had the privilege to work with. Chief Hausman thanked the Civil Service Commissioners and staff for the support they have provided throughout his years at the City of Battle Creek. COMMISSION COMMENTS Comm. Mudge expressed her appreciation to Chief Hausman for his service to Battle Creek Township and the City of Battle Creek. Comm. Mudge wished Chief Hausman well in his retirement. Comm. Cappell thanked Chief Hausman for helping to keep the City safe, noting he was named Chief the same year she moved to Battle Creek. ADJOURNMENT President Mudge adjourned the meeting at 4:06 PM. 2
