MEMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Judith Mudge and Gary Green MEMBERS ABSENT: STAFF PRESENT: Chief Schmaltz, Paul Engels, Vicki Houser, Martin Erskine CALL TO ORDER: President Mudge called the meeting to order at 4:03 PM and recognized that a quorum was present. INTRODUCTIONS: New Fire Chief David Schmaltz introduced himself to the Commission. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS: There were no petitions or communications. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. A motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by President Mudge to approve the Civil Service Commission October 28, 2013 meeting minutes. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS: There were no petitions or communications. REPORTS: There were none. UNFINISHED BUSINESS President Mudge inquired as to applications received for the Neutral Commissioner position. Clerk Houser informed the Commission that one application had been received, while interest from another possible candidate had been expressed. Clerk Houser noted the one applicant was a spouse of a City Commissioner. 1 NEW BUSINESS 1. Authorize the City Clerk to proceed with the “Entry Level Fire Fighter Exam.” President Mudge stated the first order of business was to authorize the City Clerk to proceed with the Entry Level Fire Fighter Exam. President Mudge opened the floor for public comment. Seeing no public comment, a motion was made by Comm. Green, supported by President Mudge, to approve the City Clerk to proceed with the Entry Level Fire Fighter Exam. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments. COMMISSION COMMENTS There were no Commission comments. ADJOURNMENT President Mudge adjourned the meeting at 4:06 PM. 2
