MEMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Judith Mudge, Samuel Gray and Tim Martinovich
MEMBERS ABSENT:
STAFF PRESENT: Victoria Houser, Nancy Mullett, Chief Dave Schmaltz, Battalion Chief Marty Erskine
CALL TO ORDER:
Commissioner Mudge called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM and recognized that a quorum was present.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS
There were none.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. A motion was made by Comm. Martinovich, supported by Comm. Gray, to approve the Civil Service Commission
meeting minutes of November 23, 2015. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved.

NEW BUSINESS
1. Removal of Brandon Vandenboss from the “2014 Fire Lieutenant Eligibility List”
Commissioner Mudge stated the next order of business was the removal of Brandon Vandenboss from the “2014 Entry
Level Fire Fighter Eligibility List.” Commissioner Mudge opened the floor for public comment.
Seeing no public comment, a motion was made by Comm. Matinovich, supported by Comm. Gray, to remove Brandon
Vandenboss from the “2014 Entry Level Fire Fighter Eligibility List.” All yes, none opposed. Motion approved.
2. Authorize the City Clerk to proceed with the “2016 Entry Level Fire Fighter Eligibility Test.”
A motion was made by Comm. Martinovich, supported by Comm. Gray, to authorize the City Clerk to proceed with
the “2016 Entry Level Fire Fighter Eligibility Test.”
Comm. Gray requested the ad notifying the public that applications were being accepted to clarify that if hired, the
applicant must live within 20 miles of the city limit within 18 months of hire date. Comm. Gray also asked about the
testing fee and the study guides.
Clerk Houser stated she would modify the ad to clarify the residency requirement. Clerk Houser also discussed the
reasons for the $20 testing fee and the handout regarding the study guides.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Marty Erskine, Battalion Chief, informed the Commission that the Fire Department would be conducting some beta testing
of the new agility testing procedure, noting the test would focus on strength and endurance, not specific equipment
techniques. Battalion Chief Erskine noted the beta testing would take place May 15th & 16th.

There were no Commission comments.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Mudge adjourned the meeting at 4:12 PM.
