MEMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Chris Dopp, Calvin Hardin and Chris McCoy
MEMBERS ABSENT:
STAFF PRESENT: Victoria Houser, City Clerk: Matt Beauchamp, Battalion Chief: Chelsea Sears, HR Generalist
OTHERS PRESENT:
CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Dopp called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairperson Dopp noted the first order of business was to approve the July 25, 2022 Civil Service Commission
minutes.
Comm. Hardin, supported by Comm. McCoy, made a motion to approve the Civil Service Commission meeting
minutes of July 25, 2022. All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS: There were none.
REPORTS: There were no reports.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: There was none.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Certify the “2022 Fire Lieutenant Eligibility List”
Comm. Hardin, supported by Comm. McCoy, made a motion to certify the 2022 Level Lieutenant Eligibility
List. All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved.
2. Certify the top candidate on the “2022 Fire Lieutenant Eligibility List” (Brendon Caid)
Comm. McCoy questioned why the last candidate on the list, who only received .5 seniority points, was eligible
to test if he had not been employed with the department for 2 or more years.
Clerk Houser noted Shea Peters has worked for the department for more than 2 years, but only received .5
seniority points as he left the department for a short time, and although still worked in the department for 2 or
more years, he was not allowed to retain seniority points when he left and came back. Clerk Houser noted Mr.
Peters was rehired in 2021.
Comm. Hardin, supported by Comm. McCoy, made a motion to certify the first candidate on the 2022 Fire
Lieutenant Eligibility List, Brendon Caid. All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved.
3. Certify the second candidate on the “2022 Fire Lieutenant Eligibility List” (Chad Hughes)
Comm. Hardin, supported by Comm. McCoy, made a motion to certify the second candidate on the 2022 Fire
Lieutenant Eligibility List, Chad Hughes. All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved.
4. Approval of the 2023 Civil Service Commission Meeting Schedule
Comm. Hardin, supported by Comm. McCoy, made a motion to approve the 2023 Civil Service Commission
Meeting Schedule. All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There were no public comments.
COMMISSION COMMENT: There were no commission comments.
NEXT MEETING: October 24, 2022 at 4:00 PM.
ADJOURNMENT: Chairperson Dopp adjourned the meeting at 4:09 PM.
