DANGEROUS BUILDINGS HEARING MINUTES June 10, 2015 1:00 P.M. CITY HALL 10 N. DIVISION STREET COMMISSION CHAMBERS 3RD FLOOR – ROOM 301 BATTLE CREEK MI 49014 1. Call to Order: 1:20pm 2. Roll Call: Carman Hamilton 3. Staff Members Present: Dennis McKinley, Code Compliance Administrator; Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector; Lisa Silkworth, Secretary 4. Additions/Deletions to the Agenda: none 5. Approval of Minutes: Carman Hamilton, approved the minutes from the April 8, 2015 meeting. 6. New Business: a. 118 Buckley (House/Attached Garage) Issue#EN15-01752 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, not present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, noted the property was damaged by fire. Mr. Wilkinson also noted he has talked to the owner and they have a conflict with the insurance company. Carman Hamilton affirmed the property as a dangerous building granting thirty days to bring it into compliance. b. 220 Oneita (House) Issue#EN14-26203 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, not present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, noted the property was owned by Calhoun County and lacked property maintenance and was in need of repair. Carman Hamilton affirmed the property as a dangerous building granting thirty days to bring it into compliance. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, reported the house was vacant, needed repairs, and lacked property maintenance. Mr. Wilkinson also noted he had talked with the owner and they stated the repairs were too much and planned to give the property back to the County. Carman Hamilton affirmed the property as a dangerous building granting thirty days to bring it into compliance. d. 33 Walnut (House) Issue#EN15-01731 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, not present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, noted the property was damaged by fire. Mr. Wilkinson stated the owner is currently in talks with the insurance company. Carman Hamilton affirmed the property as a dangerous building granting thirty days to bring it into compliance. 7. Public Comments: none 8. Board and Staff Members Comments: none 9. Adjournment: 1:26pm The City of Battle Creek will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audiotapes of printed materials being considered in the meeting upon reasonable notice to the City of Battle Creek.
