DANGEROUS BUILDINGS HEARING MINUTES February 12, 2020 1:00 P.M. CITY HALL 10 N. DIVISION STREET COMMISSION CHAMBERS 3RD FLOOR – ROOM 301 BATTLE CREEK MI 49014 1. Call to Order: 1:03 pm 2. Roll Call: Carman Hamilton 3. Staff Members Present: Don Wilkinson, Building Official; Richard Bolek, Chief Building Official; Angela Hubbard, Secretary 4. Additions/Deletions to the Agenda: N/A 5. Approval of Minutes: Mr. Hamilton approved the minutes from the November 13, 2019 meeting. Approved 6. New Business: a. 165 Capital Ave SW (Commercial Building) Issue #EN19-10593 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner not present. Mr. Wilkinson, Building Official stated that property was heavily damaged by fire. In it’s present condition Mr. Wilkinson recommended affirming it as a Dangerous Building. Mr. Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring it into compliance. Affirmed. b. 562 VanBuren St (House) Issue #EN18-04439 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Homeowner not present. Mr. Wilkinson, Building Official, stated property was heavily damaged by fire. A safety inspection found multiple violations. In it’s current condition, Mr. Wilkinson recommended affirming the property as a Dangerous Building. Affirmed. c. 124 Bennett (House) Issue #EN17-00445 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Homeowner not present. Mr. Wilkinson, Building Official, stated property was heavily damaged by fire. A safety inspection found multiple violations. In it’s current condition, Mr. Wilkinson recommended affirming the property as a Dangerous Building. Mr. Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring into compliance. Affirmed d. 642 Hamblin (House) Issue #DN19-10089 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Homeowner not present. Mr. Wilkinson, Bulding Official, stated the property was heavily damaged by fire, having multiple violations. Owner has pulled permits and is working on repairs to bring back into compliance. In it’s current condition, Mr. Wilkinson recommended affirming it as a Dangerous Building. Mr. Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring into compliance.
