Roll Call: Carman Hamilton, Dangerous Building Officer Attending in Battle Creek, MI Brian Welch, property owner of 12686 Sonoma Rd Attending in VanWert OH 3. Staff Members Present: Richard Bolek, Chief Building Official; Angela Hubbard, Secretary Attending in Battle Creek, MI 4. Additions/Deletions to the Agenda: 35 26th St S and 15423 Helmer Rd S 5. Approval of Minutes: Mr. Hamilton approved the minutes from the March 10, 2021 meeting. Approved 6. New Business: a. 12686 Sonoma Rd (House) Issue #EN20-00240 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, Brian Welch, present. Richard Bolek, Chief Building Official, stated that the foundation on this property has dilapidated over time and there has been no efforts to complete building a home on the foundation. Brian Welch, property owner, stated they fully intend on building a home on the existing foundation, and that they have had an engineer out to evaluate the structure. Mr. Welch stated they have also placed fencing over the top of the foundation to block access. Mr. Bolek informed Mr. Welch to be sure to bring documentation to the Board of Appeals meeting, showing the condition of the foundation. In its current condition, Mr. Bolek recommended affirming it as a Dangerous Building. Affirmed b. 35 26th St S (House) REMOVED Issue #EN20-10738 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson c. 297 Parish (House) Issue #EN08-21176 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner not present. Richard Bolek, Chief Building Official, stated property has been vacant and has sustained structural decay, with open access to the property at the roof. In its present condition, Mr. Bolek recommended affirming it as a Dangerous Building. Mr. Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring it into compliance. Affirmed. d. 285 Parish (House) Issue #EN15-00906 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner not present. Richard Bolek, Chief Building Official, stated property has been vacant and has sustained structural decay and a collapsed roof, allowing access to the property and exposure to the elements. In its present condition, Mr. Bolek recommended affirming it as a Dangerous Building. Mr. Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring it into compliance. Affirmed. e. 15423 Helmer Rd S (House) REMOVED Issue #EN21-01626 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson f. 91 Oakhill Dr (House) Issue #EN21-01224 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner not present. Richard Bolek, Chief Building Official, stated property was heavily Dangerous Buildings Hearing June 9, 2021 Page 3 of 3 damaged by fire. In its present condition, Mr. Bolek recommended affirming it as a Dangerous Building. Mr. Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring it into compliance.
