City of Battle Creek Election Commission Meeting 10 N. Division – Room 112 Battle Creek, MI August 1, 2012 11:30 A.M. Present: Steve Hudson and Vicki Houser Absent: Eileen Wicklund Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 11:45 A.M. Approval of Minutes: City Clerk Houser noted the first order of business was the approval of the June 15, 2012 meeting minutes. A motion was made by Steve Hudson, supported by Vicki Houser, to approve the June 15, 2012 Election Commission meeting minutes as presented. Mr. Hudson requested a change to the wording in the last item regarding Election Inspector training, to remove the word “part” prior to sessions. All yes, none opposed. Motion carried. Appointment of Election Inspectors: Ms. Houser provided a worksheet detailing the inspector assignments for the August 7, 2012 State Primary Election. Ms. Houser stated she would be assigning 110 inspectors, including members of the Receiving Board. Ms. Houser stated the Clerk’s office was trying to set up three receiving boards for this election. A motion was made by Mr. Hudson, supported by Ms. Houser, to approve the hiring of 110 election inspectors for the August 7, 2012 State Primary Election. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. Mr. Hudson inquired as to the expected voter turnout for the State Primary election. Ms. Houser stated she was unsure, as primary elections are generally unpredictable. Public Comment: None.
