City of Battle Creek Election Commission Meeting 10 N. Division Street – Room 112 Battle Creek, MI April 14, 2015 10:00 AM Present: Jill Steele, Steve Hudson and Vicki Houser Absent: None Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 10:00 A.M. Approval of Minutes: City Clerk Houser noted the first order of business was the approval of the October 15, 2014 meeting minutes. A motion was made by Steve Hudson, supported by Jill Steele, to approve the October 15, 2014 Election Commission meeting minutes. All yes, none opposed. Motion carried. Review of Proposals on the May 5, 2015 Ballot Clerk Houser provided Commission members a copy of the Precinct 20B ballot, discussing the State proposal that will be on all 23 precinct ballots, noting only ballot 20B will include two additional proposals, one for Climax Scotts Schools and one for KRESA. MOVE Act Update: Clerk Houser informed the Commission that the Clerk’s office had not received any MOVE applications, stating all applications received since the November 2014 election would be good for the entire 2015 year. Appointment of Election Inspectors for May 5, 2015: Clerk Houser informed the Commission that all Election Inspectors had been assigned, stating they would need 115 Election Inspectors, which would include 23 Chairpersons, 25 EPB operators and 67 Inspectors. Ms. Houser noted she would also have up to 5 Receiving Boards, consisting of 4 managers, 6 staff members and one Election Inspector. A motion was made by Jill Steele, supported by Steve Hudson, to approve the hiring of 115 Election Inspectors and 1 Receiving Board members, with the addition of City staff, for the May 5, 2015 General Election. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. Public Accuracy Test: Clerk Houser noted the May 5, 2015 Special Election Public Accuracy Test would be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 9:00 am in Room 112, the City Clerk’s Office. Ms. Houser noted the Public Accuracy Test will be noticed in the April 23, 2015 Battle Creek Shopper in conjunction with other local Clerk’s testing. Mr. Hudson agreed to attend the Public Accuracy Test. Public Comments: There were no public comments. Commission Comments: There were no Commission comments.
