Battle Creek City Election Commission 10 N. Division – Room 112 Battle Creek, Michigan Tuesday, October 3, 2017 9:00 A.M. Present: Steve Hudson, City Assessor; Jill Steele, City Attorney; and Vicki Houser, City Clerk Absent: None Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 9:00 A.M. Approval of Minutes: Clerk Houser noted the first order of business was the approval of the September 6, 2017 meeting minutes. A motion was made by Steve Hudson, supported by Jill Steele, to approve the September 6, 2017 Election Commission meeting minutes. All yes, none opposed. Motion carried. November 7, 2017 City Commission Election A. Establish an Absentee Voter Counting Board Clerk Houser stated an Absentee Voter Counting Board would be employed for this election, noting this is a change from prior small elections, stating it would provide an opportunity for staff to familiarize themselves with the new equipment during a smaller election. A motion was made by Attorney Steele, supported by Assessor Hudson, to establish an Absent Voter Counting Board for the November 7, 2017 City Commission Election. All yes, none opposed. Motion approved. B. Appointment of Election Inspectors Clerk Houser presented a list of election inspectors for the November 7, 2017 City Commission Election, noting several alternates were also listed to cover any absences. A motion was made by Assessor Hudson, supported by Attorney Steele, to appoint the precinct inspectors, as presented, for the November 7, 2017 City Commission Election. All yes, none opposed.
