Ethics Policy Review & Meeting Rules Committee

ETHICS POLICY REVIEW COMMITTEE June 1, 2005 2:00 p.m. Conference Room 302B 10 N. Division Street Battle Creek, MI 49014 Committee Members Present: Commissioners Hersha, Bullock (3:00), and Baldwin. Staff Present: City Attorney Clyde Robinson and Dawn Hammond. Call to Order: Commissioner Hersha called the meeting to order at 2:50 p.m. Public Comment: There was no public comment. Old Business: Commissioner Hersha gave an overview of the Committee’s of the process the committee has gone through to gather input from the Commission regarding the Ethics Policy. A questionnaire was drafted and distributed to Commissioners. New Business: Those Commissioners who chose to participate have returned their questionnaires. Commissioner Hersha distributed the results for review. The Committee reviewed each question and coordinating responses from participating Commissioners. They also discussed some of the comments/suggestions and various solutions/scenarios. Commissioner Hersha offered to draft a final report comprised of the consensus of each question from the questioner. The committee will need to schedule one more meeting to review the final document. Discussion took place on whether a meeting was necessary and discussed alternatives. The document will be emailed prior to the meeting however, no deliberation will take place in order to comply with the Open Meetings Act. Once the report is completed, the Commission will have to act on the minor changes suggested by the Committee. Ethics Review Committee Page 2 – Minutes June1, 2005 Commissioner Baldwin proposed that each time a Commissioner is elected, either re- elected or newly appointed, he or she should sign the agreement to comply with the code. There was no date set for the next meeting. Commissioner Hersha will contact Committee Members to coordinate a date for the next meeting. Adjournment: Commissioner Hersha adjourned the meeting at 3:53 p.m. DMH
