Goguac Lake Board Meeting Public Works Complex 150 S. Kendall Street Room 204 Battle Creek, Michigan 49037 September 1, 2016 Board Members Present: John Avery, Christine Kosmowski, David Walters Board Members Absent: Kathy-Sue Dunn, Gerardyne Drozdowski Others Present: Kurt Tribbett, Tony Groves, Nelson Karre, Camille Smith Call to Order: Avery called the meeting to order at 4:08pm Approval of Minutes: A motion was made by Avery to approve the minutes from June 9, 2016, as presented. Motion so moved by Kosmowski, supported by Walters. All yes. Motion carried. Quarterly Financial Report: Tribbett gave a brief summary of the June 30, 2016, Financial Report with a Year-To-Date Total revenue of $60,945.40. He stated that the revenues were slightly lower, which Avery stated could be due to delinquent assessments. Tribbett will check the status with the Treasurer. Report only. Aquatic Plant Control: Groves reported that, this year, Goguac Lake was treated with the aquatic herbicide Sonar to control the spread of Eurasian milfoil. The initial treatment was conducted in early April and a follow-up treatment was done in mid-May. As with previous Sonar treatments of Goguac Lake, the 2016 treatments were very effective. In addition to the milfoil treatment with Sonar, small spot treatments were conducted in June and July to control another exotic plant, starry stonewort. A late-season aquatic plant survey will be completed soon that will enumerate the type and abundance of all plants in the lake. The results of this survey will submitted the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in accordance with the state permit for the Sonar treatment. Weed Pickup: Tribbett stated that Gardner Brothers has been doing a good job keeping up with the weed pickup and that there have been no complaints. Public Comment: Not present Board Member Comments: Members discussed how the clarity of the lake has been improving since the beginning of treatment program.
