Goguac Lake Board Meeting Minutes Department of Public Works Room 204 March 30, 2023 Board Members Present: Mark Behnke; Gerardyne Drozdowski; Ron Smith; John Avery Board Members Absent: Kathy-Sue Vette Others Present: Kurt Tribbett, City Engineering; Patty Hoch-Melluish, City Environmental; Paul Hausler, Progressive AE; Nelson Karre, attorney; Andrew Falkenberg, Regional Assessing Manager Call to Order: Avery called meeting to order at 4:06 pm. Approval of Minutes: Behnke moved to approve the December 8, 2022 minutes. Drozdowski seconded. All yes, motion carried. 2022 Financial Report: Edits needed to be made to the Financial Report. Updated information will be emailed or presented at the June 8, 2023 meeting. 2023 Weed Collection: Tribbett will look into options. One potential option is City Link. City purchasing can assist with this process. Progressive AE plan for 2023: Hausler discussed the plan for 2023. Algae treatment using copper sulfate is prohibited during May and June to protect spawning fish. The plan is to treat with copper sulfate in April. First plant survey is scheduled for the second week of May with Luke. Board member are welcome to go along for the survey. EGLE has a algal bloom reporting site: algaebloom@michigan.gov. Hausler provided a copy of the EGLE ANC permit and informational sheets on common lake topics of interest. Boat Wrap Recycling: Hoch-Melluish discussed the boat shrink wrap recycling program. She will send to Avery to share with the Goguac Lake Association. Public Comments: None Board Member Comments: The group discussed looking into a goose control program. Roundups are not allowed this year due to avian flu, but egg destruction may be an option. The Canada goose population is reported to be increasing to nuisance levels.
