POST/FRANKLIN NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING COUNCIL
Thursday October 13, 2022
James Moreno called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Doris Hale Facility
Attendance:
Members Present: James Moreno, Cindy Fritz, Pam Geleff, Pat Schellenberger, Yvonne
Powell
Members Excused: John Cash, Faye Washington, LaMarr Mingle, and Pastor Sullivan
Guest and Visitors: Chris Lussie, Community Development, Andre Hoaglin-Jackson,
Ryan Hoaglin-Jackson, Jim Haadsma, State Representative
Additions and Deletions to the Agenda: None
Approval of previous Minutes: NA
Correspondence and Announcements: Saturday October 15, 2-4 Fire Safety Open House
Station #3; this was corrected to Station 1.
Police: NA – no attendance
Code: Chris brought the report and took questions; he noted that Code would be in
attendance starting in November.
Yvonne noted that there was a cat issue and suspected it was the house up the
street from her on Lathrop; Chris was to have this looked into, but this is a
reportable matter to Animal Control.
Pat reported there is a cat issue at Horton/Oak. Chris asked Pat and Yvonne to give
him a call.
Beautiful Battle Creek Award: NA Will take up at November meeting.
Membership: Memberships for 3 current members will be discussed for renewal at
November meeting so they can be renewed prior to December expiration. We had to new
member requests, Ryan and Andre Hoaglin-Jackson; their information is being
forwarded to City for Commission approval.

New Business: Discussion: There was general conversation about the NPC and the
upcoming Officer elections in November; all were reminded to think about this. We
shared with our two guest the purpose of the NPC and how it was important to have
diverse neighborhood representation. All were reminded that it is important to get
out and vote and that our precincts are Cherry Hill Manor, and Trinity Lutheran on
Cliff St. It was noted that next month after council elections we will begin
discussion process for our next meeting and looking at ideas of what we want to
accomplish in 2023. A reminder that we will be meeting at Doris Hale for the next
2 months and depending upon cold and flu season we may continue meeting at this
facility to ensure safety and health.
Council members introduced themselves to our guests and guests shared their
background with council.
Member Comments: None
Public Comments: Jim Haadsma reminded all that he was running for State
Representative and passed out his card. He shared if anyone had questions or
concerns to call or email him. He would appreciate our support in November.
Lynn Ward Gray is running for Mayor, she was not able to be here tonight, but wants
to let all know that she can be reached at g4bcnow@gmail.com and would sincerely
appreciate your support in November.
