WESTALKE/PRAIRIEVIEW NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING COUNCIL #10 Meeting Minutes August 27th, 2012 The meeting was held at First Assembly of God Church, 800 S. 24th Street, Battle Creek Michigan Call to Order & Welcome Chair, Jeff Koteles called the meeting to order at 7:00pm Cecil Salinas led the invocation. Attendance: Members: Chairman: Jeff Koteles, Secretary: Linda Patenaude, Vice Chair: David Weaver, Julie Davis, Gary Dodd, Tom Frame, Joyce Garrett, Cecil Salinas, Mike Troutman Commissioner Jeff Domenico Guests: State Representative Kate Segal, Commissioner Mark Behnke, Ms. Quinn, Sharon Newell, & Stephen Casselman City staff: None present and no code reports. Chair Notes/Correspondence/Announcements: none Additions or Deletions to Agenda: none Minutes: Dave Weaver motioned to approve July 2012 minutes with support from Julie Davis. Minutes were approved as written. Police Report: No officer was present and no reports passed out. Public Service Announcements from Commissioners: Commissioner Domenico addressed the spay/nuteur process at the city shelter for dogs. The commiswsion had a repeal of the ordinance up for a vote but it was postponed. It will be voted on in October. There will be a workshop in September to discuss how to proceed, a complete repeal of the ordinance or some type of compromise. He is looking for input from residents. Commissioner Domenico again followed up on complaints from a resident about their malicious neighbor complaint. The prosecutor is pressing charges. Goguac Lake residents are upset by a few property owners using their boat docks as public docks/launches. There are no laws prohibiting it at this time. Committee Reports: a. Membership : We are still looking for new members. Please bring a friend! b. Beautiful Battle Creek Award‐ Members were asked to bring names of beautiful places in their neighborhood. No new nominations. c. Neighborhood Planning‐ Their meeting was cancelled nothing on the agenda. D. Woodland Park‐ Advisory Meeting will be Thursday at 4pm at the new Lakeview Senior Living Center in the activity room Please call or speak with Joyce. They answered many questions from the audience. Comments for the Good of the Order: a. Public Comments‐none b. Member Comments: • David Weaver announced Mike McKenzie, speaker for next month Battle Creek Emergency Preparadness Homelnad Security representative from the Battle Creek Police Department. • Gary Dodd missed the staff and the officers at our meeting. • Tom Frame commented on the good work the city did on the property complaints of last month. • Jeff Domenico thanked our guests for coming • Joyce Garrett thanked our guests for coming and asked for us to visit the parks website at http://www.woodlandparkbc.com • Linda Patenaude appreciates the work of the city staff in following through on items brought to the table at our meetings. • Jeff Koteles thanked everyone for coming and the members who make our NPC successful.
