Meeting Minutes
FEBRUARY 24, 2014
The meeting was held at First Assembly of God Church, 800 S. 24th Street, Battle Creek Michigan
Call to Order & Welcome
Chair, Jeff Koteles called the meeting to order at 7:00pm
Invocation: Terries Todd did the invocation

Chair Notes/Correspondence/Announcements: Gantons Reflexion Memory care addition on planning
commission agenda February 26th
Additions/Deletions to the Agenda : none
Minutes: Mike Troutman motioned to approve November 2013 minutes with support from Jeff Domenico. The
minutes were unanimously approved.
Police Report: Officer Winer presented the crime report and answered question regarding traffic around West
Lake School
New Business: Scott Ganton presented his plans for an addition to their reflections memory care unit. They
would like to amend their current special use permit. After discussion the council voted unanimously to send a
letter of support to the planning commission. Discussion was held on May meeting date conflict with Memorial
day – decision will be made at the April meeting on possible change in meeting date
Public Service Announcements from Commissioners:
Jeff Domenico answered questions on Kellogg’s moving jobs to Grand Rapids and Waste Management contract.
Jeff updated members on drain project – now to start this spring. Deb Owens stated that Kellogg’s would like to
see their employees on local committees and boards.

c. Neighborhood Planning: Planning Commission will be looking at reflections memory care proposal
d. Woodland Park‐ Joyce Garrett said bids on signs for the park are being done, but the park is currently
short on funds.
City Staff Report: Marcie reported that snow on sidewalks and around fire hydrants remain a problem, and
asked for residents help. Pete Francisco asked city about cleaning pond drain entrance areas.
Old Business; Mary Lou Ramon motioned that the current officers be reelected and it was seconded by Gary
Dodd. Current officers were reelected 11‐0
Special Presentation: Teresa Osborn of community health connections presented a program on the affordable
health care act and answered questions
