WESTALKE/PRAIRIEVIEW NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING COUNCIL #10 Meeting Minutes November 28, 2016 The meeting was held at Lakeview Senior Living Facility, 14661 S Helmer, Battle Creek, Michigan Call to Order & Welcome Chair, Jeff Koteles called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm Invocation: A moment of silence was observed Attendance: Members: Chairman: Jeff Koteles, Vice Chair: David Weaver, Secretary: Linda Patenaude, Donna jaeger, MaryJane Cipcic, Mike Troutman, Carol Henegar, Donna Kowalski, Gary Dodd, & Diana Cole Guests: Carol Quinn City staff: Officers Stephen Herbstreith, and Chris Rabbitt and Jason Francisco Chair Notes/Correspondence/Announcements: Chair Jeff Koteles shared the city planning meeting was cancelled for Oct but the next one will be Nov 16th. Additions/Deletions to the Agenda: none Minutes: Dave Weaver motioned to approve the minutes with support from Donna Jaegar. The minutes were unanimously approved. Police Report: We are going to have a new officer reporting to us monthly, Chris Rabbitt. The police department had a big turnout for their annual Trunk or Treat for Halloween. They are working on Shop with a Cop for Christmas. Public Service Announcements from Commissioners: No commissioners present Committee Reports: a. Membership: Christian Plasencia moved and resigned from our NPC. No new members from our postcard mailing this month. It will resume in January. b. Beautiful Battle Creek Award- It was suggested to talk to Eric Morris who works in our area to suggest places, if we need them. Donna Jaegar recommend 2028 W. Territorial Rd.  c. Lakeview School District: MaryJane Cipcic answered some questions about the bomb threat that closed the Middle School down. The search for a new superintendent is ongoing. She thanked the 152 people who filled out responses. A graph has been created from those responses in what is needed/wanted for a new superintendent. The job should be filled by July 1st. No new developments on traffic relief from the Jr High to Columbia Avenue through Meijer old parking lot. d. Woodland Park - Some trail head signs have been added. Some vandalism has occurred. There was a small fire in the park. City Staff Report: Jason Francisco passed out code enforcement reports. He discussed mattress removal. Mattress will not be picked up unless they are wrapped in plastic taped shut. He praised the job the lawn care person had done during the year and that they were done for this year. New Business: Leadership is needed and elections are coming up again. If any member is interested in serving in any of our offices please let Linda know.
