North Central Neighborhood Planning Council #2 Meeting Notes ~ April 9, 2012 ~ Neighborhoods, Inc. 1. Call to Order & Welcome: Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by S. Gray, chair. 2. Attendance-Members present: Lynn Ward Gray, Samuel Gray, Kitty Hillian, Bill Philips- NIBC and Dorothy Young Members Excused Absence: Sheryl McDonald and Betty Settles Members Absent: Jeffrey Dinkins, A.J. Jones-FHC, Steve Lee and Keith McDonald City Staff: Officer Chad Francisco, Lt. Todd Madsen and Eric Morris Guest: David Young. No quorum present, information sharing only. 3. Approval of Previous Minutes: 3-13-12 minute’s approval postponed until May meeting. 4. Correspondence (sent/received) & Announcements: • S. Gray gave an update about the March 17th NPC Leadership Symposium. 5. City Staff/Committee/Commission/BCPS Reports: • Ofcr. Francisco & Lt. Madsen passed out police report and updated us on 1) Par 4 shooting, 2) front yard parking, code compliance has brochures on this issue, 3) copper and scrap metal material theft still an issue, and 4) foot patrol efforts outlined. • Eric Morris, Ward 2 code compliance officer, passed out code report and updated us on 1) dumping is a major problem on the following streets: Wood & Roseneath, Wilds, Hillsdale, and Coolidge, 2) burned out houses and junk yards are ongoing problems and 2) let us know he will be alternating attendance at NPC 2 meetings with Marcie Gillette. • Beautiful Battle Creek Award nominations were 337 Champion St. and a home on Wolverine, E. Morris will confirm the street address and confirm the award date for a prior BBCA recipient, 24 May St. • City Commission Updates: Comm. Gray reported on 1) upcoming Ward 2 Town Hall Meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 10, 5:30-7 p.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church, focus on Ward 2, however, all residents are welcome and 2) more information about 2012-13 budget will be forthcoming now that Spring Break has concluded. • Membership: No report. • Battle Creek Public Schools: No report. 6. Old Business/New Business: None 7. Public Comments/Member Comments: None • B. Phillips gave an update on efforts around Community Watch. Signs to be posted in NPC’s 1, 2, 3, & 4, once complete, a mailing in the Enquirer and Shopper news will follow that will include a cover letter, diary and refrigerator magnet for residents to use. 8. Next Meeting: Monday, May 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Neighborhoods, Inc. Members present requested a meeting prior to May 8th if possible, otherwise, the entire May 8 meeting will be dedicated to completing our action items for 2012 goals. 9.
