Approval of the Minutes: Motion by Jerry Dill 2 Cari L. Briggs that the Minutes of February 14, 2019 be approved. CARRIED
City Staff Reports:
Police Department:
Officer Herbstreith is now working nights and Officer O’connell is working afternoons. Part 1 & 2 crime discussed, new director at the Share
Center, hot spots discussed, and any concerns or questions answered.
Kelly Dillman talked about the Byrne Grant in our NPC.
Code Reports:
Reports were handed out. Property Surveys will begin in April and Jim will be helping in NPC 4 for this, plus doing ours. Concerns voiced were front
yard parking and parking across public sidewalks. New painting season will be beginning.

Commissioner Reports:
Chris Simmons reported on the issue of people living motels on a monthly basis and will be discussed at a Commission Workshop on
Tuesday March 19, 2019 at 5:30 P.M. in the small room behind the Commission chambers. He talked about the goals set for the City Manager by the
Commission-can find these on the City Website.
Schools: Battle Creek Public Schools & Lakeview School Districts:
BCPS Wes Seeley gave us information on their new logo, new programs, new schools within existing schools, and initiatives they are implementing. Good
things are happening.
Lakeview’s Superintendent Blake Prewitt spoke on Kindergarten Roundup at each of the Schools in your area, that the program of getting your preschool ready for
kindergarten is coming to Minges School from the Albion area. New programs being added. He also talked about the presentation a developer will make at the
nd
Lakeview School Board Meeting – 7pm- High School’s 2 floor on turning the Territorial School into Apartments and adding townhomes to the field rather than
fixing the repairs to it. The students of the Alternative School and the Japanese have been relocated to other schools. Bond work on schools will begin soon at the
Middle school and Westlake.

Robert J. Kist told of the new website he learned of at the Leadership Meeting on March 4, 2019. It is www.mi-battlecreek.dynamo.city It is a great way to see in
real time what is going on in your NPC (a neighborhood intel program of owner vs rental property, foreclosures, and more). Give it a try.
New Business for Future Meetings: Have Chriss Lussier come and present to our NPC members above program.
Speaker: for April-Eric Phelps of Planning Department and Kate Roosevelt of Calhoun County Senior Services.
Public/Guest Comments:
There will be a Church Painting Day at Trinity Methodist Church on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 11am to 3pm. All invited. Also a sign-up sheet is going around for
anyone wanting to help plan a Neighbor-Hood Picnic for sometime Mid June here at the Church.
