NPC 4 NORTHEAST (3-20-2019) 3.20.19 Members: JP Wilson, Mary Conklin Brice Kerschen, Leah Dodd, Nate Grajek, Debby Fryar, David Salerno, Kelly Dillman Guests: Nate Hunt, Jim Moreno, Jason Francisco 7:00 Calhoun County Dog Park: Debby collaborating with city park and rec and BCCF. Monday informational meeting at police station. Ideas bantered about fund raising. BCPD: Brice passed out Feb. police crime report. Larcenies at Y Center, domestic assault, obstructing justice (warrant arrest), finding drugs during traffic stops, 22 Fremont Place meth, were highlighted. The Cherry St / Calhoun Harvard area not as busy. A Byrne Grant is in line for approval for Benjamin Park. The Congregational Church assigned fiduciary,handling money from BCCF. Kelly noted the citizen police academy is a source for volunteers. Code compliance: Jason Francisco offered to work with Waste Management for pick up at Benjamin Park cleanup. Old fire dept building demolished at Van Buren and Elm. Topsoil and grass seeding when weather permits. Heritage Cleaners cleaned 75 fire dept. coats gratis, which were then donated to Charitable Union and SA during the winter. Leaf pick up starts Apr. 1. Property survey in the NPC the next six weeks. Paint program still on. Up to 10 gal no cost. Same with plastic covering for mattress and bedspring. Recycling going to a bi weekly schedule soon. BCPS: Nate Hunt Application to Fremont is open. HS Freshman class restructuring this year. Focus on career academies and pathways: Academy of Business, Engineering and Industrial Tech and the Academy of Health and Human Services. Info sessions Thursday Apr. 25 at 9 am and 6pm. Minutes for Jan and Feb approved. Historic district: approved a request by Hollander Development for a 50 unit residential at 85-89 W Michigan. (old Schrank's Cafeteria) Comments: Jim Moreno wondered how to be proactive to the fact that warmer weather brings a rise in crime stats. Kelly said The WK night school collaborating with Habitat to build ramps for homebound residents. Mary found the meeting interesting and informative. Brice set Saturday Apr 13 for cleanup at Benjamin Park. Adjournment 8:35
