Central Neighborhood Planning Council – NPC3 Minutes Thursday August 8, 2019 Trinity Community Center 10 W. Bidwell, Battle Creek, MI 49015 Call To Order/Time Convened: 7:03pm by Vice Chair Attendance: Members: Cynde Foster, Trudy Hall, Cari Briggs, Jerry Dill, Penny Dill, Robert Kist, Rick Buchanan, Kera Buchanan, Troy Kirtley, Tim Marske, Tim Cole Excused: Gloria Mansfield Not excused (work out of town went longer than planned) Tim Conlogue City Staff: Officer Herbstreith, Chris Lussier Guests: Nan McBain, Pastor Janet Wilson, Dave Henkel Addition or Deletion to the Agenda: none Approval of the June 13, 2019 Minutes: Motion by Jerry Dill 2nd by Troy Kirtley To accept the minutes submitted . CARRIED City Staff Reports: Police Report: Officer Herstreith went over the Report sent out by email by the Secretary. Part 1 & 2 crimes are up. He is working on proactively on the Kmart & Econo Lodge area. On Friday, a 6 (2 man) car will be driving the Byrne Grant crime areas to be proactive. The Police was asked to patrol 15 Roe St., as boards are being removed to get into house. Code: Chris Lussier handed out the reports. Tall grass & junk accumulation being rhe top problems reported. Sale of properties are on an upward trend in our area. Committee Reports: Commission Report: None School: BCPS & Lakeview: None Membership (new additions/deletions): Motion by Tim Marske 2nd Jerry Dill to ADD Dave Henkel 134 Upton Ave., Battle Creek, MI 49037 as a Member. CARRIED Beautiful Battle Creek Award (Residental/or Business): R-414Surby B-900 W. Territorial Rd Place Making Committee: None Old Business to be finalized: An invoice from Consumer’s Energy sent to the City for the Lighting Project of the Byrne Grant being done in our NPC was presented and paid. Next Project to be worked on is the cleanup of some areas. Suggested is the alley besides Jetco Sign, as the City has cut back the over growth -uncovering lots of trash. Another area to be cleaned is the Kmart Parking lot. New Business: Tim Cole handed out information of the “Back to School Resource Fair” being held Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 4-8pm. There will be new and used school supplies, School Representatives from area School Districts, Community resources, and of course fun, games and snacks. This is a free event for the entire family. This is being held at the Trinity Neighborhood Center, 10 W. Bidewell . You can always check out their FB page “TNC” or email them at TNC@thehillbc.com A “We are Pride” Byrne Grant has been applied to help sponsor this. New Business for Future Meetings: To discuss the Cleanup Project. Speaker: none this meeting. Next Month-Chris Lussier of Community Development Dept. Public/Guest Comments: Pastor Janet told of a listening meeting to find out what the neighborhood needs might be. This will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Trinity Community Center from 6-7pm….dinner & child care will be available. Their will be a Leadership Meeting on Monday, August 19, 2019 at the Department of Public Works building. Dinner at 5pm, meeting begins at 5:30pm.
