CALL TO ORDER/TIME CONVNED : 7pm

ADDITION OR DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA; None
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES; Motion by Gloria Mansfield 2nd Cari Briggs to approve the Minutes of
November 10, 2022 and December 8, 2022 Carried
CITY STAFF REPORTS;
Police Department: Officers handed out Crime Reports and answered any questions/concerns.
Code Reports: Kim Brown (our new Code Officer) handed out reports. Her email
is klbrown@battlecreekmi.gov
COMMITTEE REPORT;
Commissioner Report: Each Commissioner talked about City Activity. We have a new Interim Police
Chief (Baggley). Their will be a open house for Chief Blocker’s
Retirement at the PD’s Community Room on January 24th from 4-6pm. A
revisit of the Marijuana Ordinance as we get more (if changed exisiting
businesses would be grandfathered in. There will be a workshop about
Community Development Housing (5:30 pm) before the January 17 City
Commission Meeting.

Membership (new additions/deletions): None
Beautiful Battle Creek Award (Residence and/or business): R-132 W. Goguac
Business Report: The City Commission approved Marijuana Business at 327 Capital SW
OLD BUSINESS TO BE FINALIZED; To set up the Calendar Meetings for 2023 Motion Gloria Mansfield
2nd Trudy Hall that “no meetings in July & December” 2023 Carried
NEW BUSINESS; ELECTION OF OFFICERS AT THE FEBRUARY MEETING
NEW BUSINESS FOR FUTURE MEETINGS; JOHN HART WILL BE OUR SPEAKER FOR FEBRUARY
SPEAKER; Ted Dearing and John Hart
Downtown Development Authority – Plan Amendment 2022 handouts were given out. This
plan had not been updated in 30 years. The boundaries were expanded
Beyond the core downtown area to the south, west, north, east, capital ave sw corridor, and
Columbia ave. Projects were discussed..example of housing on old
Kmart site and River Restoration.
PUBLIC/GUEST COMMENTS; Sally Goss asked if the flooding concerns are being considered with the
river restoration Project. Ted replied it is still in talks with the Army Corp of Engineers.
MEMBERS COMMENTS; Gloria mentioned that there is a lot of BC information given on Saturday
mornings (8am) on WBCK sponsored by Lakeview Ford
