Bidwell St. Battle Creek, MI 49015 Minutes of April 11, 2024 DRAFT CALL TO ORDER/TIME CONVENED: 7PM ATTENDANCE: Members: Tim Conlogue, Robert Kist, Cynde Foster, Gloria Mansfield Excused: Pastor Janet Wilson, Carla Berner, AL Berner, Elisha Hodge Mayes, Bryan Mayes, Jerry Dill Absent: Cari Briggs, Michelle Tyler, Jerry Dill, Penny Dill City Staff: BCPD Officer Ben Downey, Code Officer Kim Brown, BCFD Patrick Cleland Guest: Amy Rose Robinson of the Calhoun County LandBank ADDITION OR DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA: Our speaker, Duska from Parks & Rec had to reschedule to our May 9, 2024 Meeting due to a family problem. We have Amy Rose Robinson, from the LandBank to speak APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Motion by Gloria Mansfield 2nd Robert Kist to approve the Minutes of January 11, 2024 and February 8, 2024. Approved CITY STAFF REPORTS: Police Department: Officer Downey handed out the reports and explained them. Code Reports: None COMMITTEE REPORTS: • Commissioner Report: None • Schools: Battle Creek District & Lakeview District: None • Membership (New additions and/or deletions): Trudy Hall has submitted her resignation due to health problems. • Beautiful Battle Creek Award (Residential and/or Business): R-103 Burr • Business Report: A new card (collectible) to open in the Business strip where Uncle Dogs is. • Networking Committee: The Grant to increase Membership was discussed. Tim Conlogue brought 10 signs to hand out that will be placed in yards that have where & when our NPC3 Meetings are held. These, hopefully, will encourage interest and attendance. It was mentioned to put out 5 days before each meeting and then put away after the meeting so they are preserved. OLD BUSINESS TO BE FINALIZED: None NEW BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS FOR FUTURE MEETINGS: Our Speaker for April 11, 2024 will be Duska from Parks & Rec. It was also mentioned to have Plumeria come give an update. SPEAKER: BCFD Inspector Patrick Cleeland gave us more information on the “Smoke Detector & Carbon Monoxide Detector Program” that they received a Grant for. He told us of the area they targeting of Goguac, E. Grand and Grand Ave’s, Harris, Frisbie, Seviour, Battle Creek Ave, Meachum. Homeowners only. Will be installed May 4th from 9-noon; with May 11th if needed. Volunteers report at 8:30am. Volunteers: Tim Cole, Cynde Foster, Tim Conlogue and Robert Kist were given to Patrick. He was also given group names that May want to volunteer (ex: Boy Scouts, High School students and church groups). PUBLIC/GUEST COMMENTS: None MEMBERS COMMENTS: Gloria mentioned the styroform collection coming up, road projects, tire collection.
